Paju café lunch with jambon fromage and cornet pie: Boulangerie Tan
In short
Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch is a European-style bakery café in Paju, Gyeonggi. I had jambon fromage, pollock roe potato salt bread, and vanilla and Chodang sweet-corn cornet pies for lunch and dessert. Verdict: Go around lunchtime for the widest selection.

A European bakery atmosphere in Chorongkkot Village
Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch, in the Chorongkkot Village area, is on the first floor of the building, so it wasn't hard to find.

The overall atmosphere felt exactly like a European bakery!!! I've never been to Europe, but… the Europe I had seen in photos… hahaha.

It had a clean yet upscale European feel, so the space caught my eye even before I started choosing bread. ^^

Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch is already incredibly famous in Paju as a bakery that uses good ingredients!!!! If you're visiting by car, you can use the building parking lot and register your parking in the store before you leave! I was close to Kagongjok Paju Dongpae Branch, so I just walked. Paju Pay is accepted too :)

Once inside, there was a more varied bread selection than I expected, which made browsing fun. The shop itself isn't especially large, but there were quite a few staff members for its size. They were continuously making bread in the back, and it had that lively energy unique to a bakery.

Bread with a powerful butter flavor
Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch uses Lescure Charentes-Poitou butter! The moment I ate the sandwich… I looked up this butter… Until now, I thought butter was just butter, no matter how famous it was… This is what people mean when they say the flavor is insane, seriously..!!!!

The staff were kind too, so it felt comfortable while I was choosing bread. haha

Fun choices from sandwiches to dessert
Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch had meal-worthy sandwiches and salt bread,

as well as a wide range of pastries and desserts.

You can also order coffee and various drinks to have with your sandwich, so it's easy to sort everything out in one stop!

Boulangerie Tan coffee uses Fritz Coffee Company beans~ Fritz beans are always delicious, right...!!! They sell the beans in the store too.

The sandwiches especially looked like a great choice when you want something simple instead of a full meal!!! I often think jambon is salty, so I don't usually eat it that often(?)—but the moment I saw it, I was somehow compelled to order the jambon fromage, hahaha. It was my top pick without a moment's hesitation!!!! It felt so different from the jambon beurre sandwiches I'd seen before! (Actually, I had gone to buy the carrot râpée chicken sandwich… hahahaha.)
I've been studying at Kagongjok Paju Dongpae Branch often these days, and since it was nearby, I went to buy a sandwich to eat instead of lunch!

The ciabattas looked sooo delicious too ㅠㅠ

When should you go for popular breads?
I visited around noon, at lunchtime, and there was still quite a varied selection of bread left!! But friends told me that by around 3 p.m., many of the good breads tend to be gone... It's such a popular and well-known bakery, so if there's something you want, it would be best to visit a little early. :)
After the jambon, the next things that somehow drew me in were these cornet pies ㅠㅠㅠ I'd never seen visuals like this in my life..

There was also sandwich bread and baguettes that would be great to use in lots of ways!

And you can even sample these precious breads..! Oh my goodness, haha. As an olive lover, I popped one into my mouth while waiting for my bread to be packed!!! Need I say more… it was amazingly delicious ㅠㅠㅠㅠ
The salt breads and financiers looked so delicious too! The pollock roe potato salt bread was marked as a best seller, so I picked it immediately! I love fresh cream so much… I love bakeries that sell fresh cream separately, hahaha. They also sell cute little jams :) There are so many breads too, including pies, pain au chocolat, and croissants that are nice for dessert after a simple meal!
Four breads chosen for lunch
This time I ordered jambon fromage, vanilla cornet pie, Chodang sweet-corn cornet pie, and pollock roe potato salt bread. They package everything so neatly too! Next time, I should buy a sandwich and take it to the park to eat, haha.
Before eating, haha, they kindly gave me instructions for enjoying the bread deliciously, so let me take note!!
Jambon fromage ₩9,900

I chose this to eat instead of a meal, and the aroma of the jambon, butter, and cheese combination was immediately unmistakable. The flavor coming from the jambon, butter, and cheese was especially strong, and I got the impression that the ingredients themselves were excellent. The lively jambon, arugula, butter, and cheeses… ahh ㅠㅠㅠ
The combination of French gourmet butter, arugula, whole-grain mayo, and Emmental cheese was truly perfection itself ㅠㅠ You could really taste how fresh and good the ingredients were. If you genuinely love jambon… please, please try this.. Even I, someone who doesn't usually like jambon, was drawn in by this jambon fromage; people who already love it will seriously faint, hahaha.
I'm cutting down on caffeine these days ㅠㅠ so I had it with hot tea, but it would go so well with a hot Americano!!!!! On a day I can have caffeine… I'll definitely try it again with a strong Americano, haha.

It was a totally filling choice to have instead of a full meal!!!
Vanilla cornet pie ₩3,500
The outside had the distinct flaky layers of pastry, while the inside was packed with vanilla cream. With each bite, there was plenty of cream, so it was lovely eating the pie and cream together.

It was a great choice when you're craving a sweet dessert. ^^ This goes so well with coffee!!!!!
Chodang sweet-corn cornet pie ₩3,900

This one was also filled with cream, so the combination of pastry and soft cream came through clearly. ㅠㅠㅠㅠ I'm a Chodang sweet-corn lover too.. hehe. I wondered what it would taste like because of the Chodang sweet-corn name, and the sweet cream and crisp pie made it lovely to eat as dessert!!
Pollock roe potato salt bread ₩3,800
This was a salt bread made with pollock roe and potato, so it was a little different from an ordinary salt bread. With the savory pollock roe and potato combination inside, it was totally filling enough to have in place of a meal rather than as a simple snack!!

It was a visit where I could look through everything from meal-worthy sandwiches to desserts in a space with the atmosphere of a European bakery.

There was a wide variety of bread at lunchtime, but popular items may be gone in the afternoon, so it's best to allow a little extra time for your visit. The weather is so nice too, so I recommend packing up sandwiches for a trip to Unjeong Lake Park or Ilsan Lake Park—or studying with a sandwich and bread at Kagongjok Paju Dongpae Branch, where food is allowed!
