Seongnam Korean BBQ with grilling service: Musoe Ttuk Samgyeop
In short
Musoe Ttuk Samgyeop is a Korean barbecue restaurant in Sangdaewon, Seongnam, Gyeonggi. I visited with my parents and children for a 3–4-person set and sides, while the enclosed grilling service zone cooked the pork for us. Verdict: a comfortable choice for a family meal with grilled kimchi and minari.

Not long ago, I went out for a family meal with my parents and children. When you have kids, taste matters when choosing where to eat, of course, but so do easy parking, whether the restaurant is too cramped, and whether they grill the meat for you. This time, we had a satisfying visit to Musoe Ttuk Samgyeop Sangdaewon Branch (무쇠뚝삼겹 상대원점).
There is a grilling service zone at the back of the restaurant, where they cook the meat at just the right moment. They also plate it so appetizingly on their custom-made cast-iron grill that it was a feast for the eyes, too.

Outside Seongnam Central Biz Tower 2

Musoe Ttuk Samgyeop Sangdaewon Branch is on basement level 2 of Seongnam Central Biz Tower 2. It is technically B2, but because the building is on a slope, it looks like the first floor from the roadside. We drove over, but I mistakenly parked at the SK V1 Tower next door before parking again at Seongnam Central Biz Tower 2. Pay close attention when parking!
Retro, spacious dining room

We arrived right when it opened, so we were luckily the first customers of the afternoon and could photograph the interior without anyone in it. By the time we were nearly done eating, though, it was full of customers.

The spaces were retro overall but clean and roomy, making them perfect for a family meal gathering.

The decorative pieces, such as retro tiger pictures, an old TV, and kettles, gave the place a nostalgic feel, too.

Quite a few celebrities have visited as well, and the autograph from mukbang creator Ipjjalbeun Haetnim caught my eye. I used to watch a lot of mukbangs... They also played lots of songs from the 1990s through the early 2000s. They said they will play a song if you make a request!!

The basic table setting was very simple.
Musoe Ttuk set and grilling service zone

Their signature options are the Musoe Ttuk 2-person set and 3–4-person set. I liked ordering a set because it comes with pork belly and pork neck, plus kimchi, minari (water dropwort), and grilled pa-jeori (seasoned scallion salad) all together. We visited with my parents, and the Musoe Ttuk 3–4-person set plus side dishes was just the right amount!

This is the grilling zone at the back of the restaurant. It is safely enclosed so that meat grease does not splatter, so families worried about grilling meat with children along can eat here comfortably. You do not have to stay planted in front of the grill; you can simply look after the kids and wait at your leisure, which was so convenient.

One thing: grilling the meat takes 10–15 minutes, so if you think you will want more during the meal, it seems best to order it ahead of time!

They plated everything so appetizingly that I took several photos. Maybe the plating looks even prettier because it is a custom-made cast-iron grill? There is a separate space in the middle for the kimchi, minari, and pa-jeori, which makes the meat look even more delicious.

Ahhh~~ They bring over the cast-iron pot when the meat is sizzling and cooked at its most delicious point~ Welcome~~

Pork belly with grilled kimchi and minari
As the aged kimchi, minari, and pa-jeori grilled together in the pork belly fat, they became savory—and you know how the charred bits of kimchi are even tastier, haha. The minari was fragrant, and eating it with pork belly made my mouth feel refreshed. Needless to say, the meat itself was so delicious. Surprisingly, I liked the pork neck even more than the pork belly. My parents also said that with these accompaniments, the grilled vegetables were much tastier than eating meat nonstop, haha.

The doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) was spicy and pleasantly sharp, and it was great with an extra bowl of rice mixed into it.

The naengmyeon (cold noodles) was also wonderfully refreshing and spicy, with lots of cucumber, and paired very well with the meat. If you are looking for a Korean barbecue restaurant for a family meal, Musoe Ttuk Samgyeop Sangdaewon Branch in Seongnam is worth keeping in mind. I recommend it as a place where we could comfortably enjoy pork belly with everyone from my parents to the children!
