Seongnam Korean BBQ restaurant: staff-grilled pork at Musoettuk

In short

Musoettuk Samgyeop Sinheung Station Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Sinheung Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. We celebrated a friend’s resignation with the two-person set, onion wraps, gochujang pork neck, garlic Jjapagetti, and doenjang sulbap. Verdict: every meat and side dish is worth returning for.

My regular Sinheung Station pork belly spot for a friend’s resignation celebration

Musoettuk Samgyeop (무쇠뚝삼겹) near Sinheung Station in Seongnam has been one of my true regular pork belly spots for ages, and this time I went to celebrate my friend’s resignation~ My friend had seen it on Reels and wanted to go so badly, so I was really happy we got to come together.

How was the staff-grilled pork belly?

One great thing about Musoettuk Samgyeop, a pork belly favorite near Sinheung Station in Seongnam, is the grilling! The staff grill it themselves, so you can eat comfortably, and they are so skillful and thoughtful at it, haha. I have been drawn in more than a few times just walking past because of the smell of grilling meat—honestly, I do not think anyone could dislike that smell!

The staff doing the grilling are seriously so good and thoughtful. I have been lured in quite a few times while passing by this way because of the smell of meat grilling. There must be tons of people who came in just like me. I do not think there is even one person who would dislike this smell.

The Musoettuk two-person set and draft beer

First, we got the Musoettuk two-person set for ₩46,000. It comes with 320g of pork belly and 160g of pork neck—more like three portions, I think—and the amount was quite good. And of course, two beers! Another thing I have always liked is that they sell draft beer, which makes me very, very happy. We had not eaten a single meal before coming, so I felt like I might faint from hunger.

Seasoned vegetables and lettuce are an essential pairing with meat. I love meat too, but eating it with vegetables feels better for my conscience. The vegetables are unlimited too—this place is the best.

Cheers to your resignation. Even my beer-hating friend said the beer here was restaurant-worthy and inhaled two glasses. Then we got one more through the review event.

Pork belly, pork neck, and meljeot sauce

After a little wait, the pork belly arrived. There was pork neck and pork belly, plus kimchi, tofu, and minari (water celery), which we stir-fried once more in the meat fat—such a special treat. Because the staff grill the meat, it is crisp outside and juicy inside, exactly as it should be. And the meljeot sauce (fermented anchovy sauce) that I love so much!! Dipping the meat in it seems to maximize the flavor even more.

The pork neck was tender and the pork belly savory; then we wrapped kimchi, minari, and meat in lettuce and inhaled it all. The pig is happy again today. I am so, so happy.

Onion wraps became my friend’s top pick

And then, my friend’s top pick: onion wraps! I wondered why we were ordering raw onions, but after trying them, it was a total surprise. They cut through the richness of the meat, and when I ate them at the end, my mouth felt so clean that I kept reaching for more. The friend who joined us later gave them a thumbs-up too! It would have been a disaster if we had not ordered them~ I think I will keep ordering them whenever I eat meat from now on.

The friend who arrived later also gave the onion wraps a thumbs-up. We ate them so intensely. If you come to Musoettuk Samgyeop, I definitely recommend ordering them.

Gochujang pork neck and garlic-bomb Jjapagetti

Gochujang pork neck cooked further on cast iron

Lately, I have been into gosam, short for gochujang samgyeopsal—pork belly in spicy red pepper paste. I was going to order gochujang pork belly for myself, but they had gochujang pork neck, so that is what we ordered. It also came already grilled, so it was great that we only had to cook it a little more. Cooking it further on the cast-iron pan gave it a bit of smoky flavor, and while gochujang pork belly can become greasy because of its fat, the gochujang pork neck was not greasy at all. Our late-arriving friend inhaled it.

We ordered the garlic-bomb Jjapagetti because my friend wanted it again. They said that if you have seen it on Instagram Reels, you will faint from craving it if you do not eat it, so we ordered it—and first I was amazed by the sound, then amazed again by the visuals.

Garlic-bomb Jjapagetti being mixed on cast iron

It gets casually mixed right on the cast iron, and it is just too delicious. It feels like stir-fried black bean noodles. I expected it to be greasy, but it was not greasy at all, which I loved. This is another flavor I keep thinking about. It is on a completely different level from the Jjapagetti you make at home.

Doenjang sulbap to finish the meat meal

Finishing with doenjang sulbap

The three of us are rice girls, so we could not leave out doenjang sulbap (rice in soybean paste broth) at the end. For the sake of our conscience, we finished with doenjang sulbap. Whenever and wherever you eat it, doenjang sulbap is simply the right way to finish a meat meal.

Even though we visited around 9 p.m., there were still quite a few people, so Musoettuk Samgyeop is already clearly known as a great restaurant around Sinheung Station. The pork belly is delicious, but I love the other dishes too—especially the garlic-bomb Jjapagetti and doenjang sulbap~ Definitely a place I will come back to next time.
