Pork bone grill and hangover hot pot in Suyeong: Paldo Ppyeogui

In short

Paldo Ppyeogui is a pork bone grill restaurant in Suyeong, Busan. My husband and I walked there for the ₩40,000 hangover hot pot set, seasoned mixed rice, and tender meat with fragrant bang-a herb broth. Verdict: a filling dinner that is also great with a drink.

Signature dish at Paldo Ppyeogui Suyeong Main Branch

A Suyeong pork bone grill stop after work and a walk

The weather had cooled down enough that an evening walk sounded nice. So I met my husband after work, and we decided to have dinner and take a walk. We visited Paldo Ppyeogui (팔도뼈구이), a Suyeong favorite! We enjoyed pork bone grill, hot pot, and seasoned mixed rice too~

They also had high chairs, so it looked like a comfortable place to eat with children.

One more shot with our buy-one-get-one Kelly draft beer, haha. We were going to eat the bread first, but the owner shared a tip for enjoying it, so we decided to wait a little.

Kelly draft beer and Bushman bread

We had walked nearly 30 minutes from home, so we were really hot. So, bottoms up with a cold one~~~ After that refreshing sip, they even gave us steamed egg on the house. (Thank you ♡)

Tender pork bone grill and a Bushman bread tip

Finally, the main dish arrived: Paldo Ppyeogui! Its generous stack of bones immediately caught both my husband's and my eye.

Time to enjoy the Bushman bread properly! (The owner's tip!) Spread on the cream~ add coleslaw~ then pile on lots of meat~ and... you have a delicious sandwich! My husband and I split one in half 👍 Please make it this way. It is seriously delicious.

Then we got back to our Paldo Ppyeogui feast~ The meat was so tender that it came right off the bone with just a light lift of the chopsticks.

Here is another great tip!! They told us that drizzling the shallow pool of sauce over the meat after pulling it from the bone makes it much juicier and more deeply flavorful. The sauce soaked right in, bringing out even more savoriness, and it was heavenly with the meat juices.

After roughly pulling off the large pieces of meat, it was time to put on the plastic gloves and really dig in with our hands! We picked up and diligently pulled apart the chewy meat tucked between the bones.

Steamed rice mixed with pork bone grill sauce

There were four bones in total, so splitting two each was perfect—then my husband suddenly put his share on the stone plate and started stripping off the meat. He said we should order steamed rice and mix it in!

We ordered two bowls of rice and mixed them in. (We meant to mix only one bowl and eat the other with the hot pot, but somehow we mixed both bowls 🤣) My husband's rice-mixing skills keep getting better by the day.

Paldo Ppyeogui had so much meat that even when I took a big spoonful of rice, it came up loaded with meat. The sauce-soaked meat and rice together were truly a work of art.

Hangover hot pot with a gentle bang-a herb aroma

Here is the hangover hot pot that arrived with the steamed rice. Just looking at it made me feel like it would cure a hangover. It contains bang-a, an aromatic Korean herb, but the owner asks beforehand, so you can adjust it to your taste.

Amazingly, the hangover hot pot had two bones in it too. Could we possibly finish all this...? I started to worry 😂 The meat on the bones in the hot pot also came off wonderfully tender.

The gently spicy, deep broth was filled with the subtle fragrance of bang-a leaves, and I could not help but exclaim as soon as I took a spoonful. The harmony of soft-cooked cabbage greens and spicy broth was the best~! It had that addictive flavor that keeps you reaching for another spoonful!

After stripping every bit of meat from the bones, thoroughly mixing rice into the sauce, and finishing with the hangover hot pot, I honestly felt like I might burst. I was so sad that we had no choice but to leave some of the hot pot broth behind.

Leftover hangover hot pot broth after the meal

With tender, meat-packed pork bone grill, rice mixed into the shallow sauce, and fragrant bang-a hangover hot pot, it was such a perfect dinner! I recommend Paldo Ppyeogui Suyeong Main Branch for a hearty meal or for having a drink alongside it!
