There are days when, no matter how much you agonize over dinner, it always comes down to meat, haha. This was exactly that kind of day. I wanted something thick and satisfying, so I looked up good places to eat near Gaeumjeong in Changwon and ended up at Hanpanjip, a place that recently opened near Gaeumjeong Market.
Being near the market made it easy to find, and what I liked most was that they bring the meat out pre-seared and then grill it for you at the table. Constantly flipping and watching the meat while trying to eat can be kind of stressful, but this time I could just relax and chat while eating. Here's an honest rundown of Hanpanjip's location, menu, the taste of the meat, and parking, from my visit while searching for good food near Gaeumjeong Market.
How to find Hanpanjip Changwon Gaeum Branch from Gaeumjeong Market

Being so close to the market makes it a convenient route for anyone looking for good food near Gaeumjeong Market. It's a good stop for dinner after browsing the market or grocery shopping, and it's also close to the residential area of Gaeum-dong, so it looked like a solid choice for family meals or gatherings with friends.

They're open daily from 17:00 to 23:00. Since it's an evening-only spot, it's a good time slot for dinner after work or evening get-togethers with friends.

What comes with the Hanpan Small 600g for ₩39,900?
What I ordered that day was Hanpanjip's signature menu, the Hanpan Small 600g. It costs ₩39,900 and includes aged flower pork belly and flower pork neck 500g, plus pork skin 100g. I liked being able to try several kinds of meat together instead of just one.
The thickness of the meat especially stood out. I prefer thicker cuts over thin pork belly, so it looked promising just from the visuals. And since it comes pre-seared, there was less time spent grilling from scratch at the table, which I appreciated.

Timing the grilling right is one of those low-key important things at BBQ places, and having the staff grill it for us made it noticeably easier. Sometimes you get caught up talking and the meat burns, but this time there was no such worry — it came out ready to eat every time. Honestly, one person usually ends up stuck grilling the whole time because everyone else finds it a hassle, lol, but here that burden doesn't exist, so it would work fine for group gatherings too.
How the aged flower pork belly, pork neck and pork skin taste with the sauces
Finally got to try the meat. I started with the flower pork belly, and the thickness gave it a great chew. The juiciness and texture of the meat itself were good, and since it was finished at the table after pre-searing, it stayed warm and ready to eat right away.
The flower pork neck had a different texture from the belly, so alternating between the two kept things interesting. There was also fun in switching up the sauce with each bite — with several different sauces available, the same meat tasted different depending on the combination.

At first I just dipped everything in salt, but then tried the other sauces one by one, and personally found mixing up the combinations fun. If you're looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant in Gaeumjeong, Changwon and care not just about taste but also about eating comfortably, this staff-grilled style seems like a real plus.
It was a great atmosphere for chatting over meat, and also went well with a drink. I ate with Saewa that day, and pairing it with the meat, the drinks went down easy, haha.

And honestly, the thing I was most satisfied with that day was the thickness of the meat. Meat really needs some thickness to have a proper chew. After one bite, I found myself thinking, 'Ah, I'm glad I came out for meat today.'

Finishing the meal with kimchi cheese fried rice, ₩5,500
After eating a good amount of meat, I was full but still thinking about a finishing dish. It's hard to skip fried rice at a BBQ place, haha. So I ordered the kimchi cheese fried rice for ₩5,500 too.
It's kimchi fried rice with cheese added, and it paired really well as a closing dish after the meat. Eating the fried rice on top of the meat made the meal feel much more filling than meat alone. Between the Hanpan Small 600g and the kimchi cheese fried rice, I was completely full. Still, finishing everything off felt satisfying, lol. If you're looking for good food in Gaeum-dong and prefer places where you can have both a meat course and a proper rice dish, this combo is worth considering.

Next time I'd like to try other menu items too, so this place will probably come to mind again when I'm looking for good food near Gaeumjeong in Changwon.
