Changwon BBQ open till 3am with pork belly platter: Gogit-ri 88beonji
In short
Gogit-ri 88beonji Changwon Sangnam Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant on Madimi-ro in Sangnam-dong, Changwon. The writer ordered the Gogit-ri Combo A (pork belly, pork neck and gabrisal, the cut above the pork belly) with a spicy doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew); the meat arrives pre-grilled and pre-cut, so it finishes fast on the tabletop grill, and the gabrisal was especially tender. Today I'm sharing my visit to Gogit-ri 88beonji in Sangnam-dong, Changwon. Sangnam-dong has so many Korean BBQ places that it's often hard to decide where to go, but this time I picked Gogit-ri 88beonji because the place is quite spacious and the meat comes pre-grilled so you can eat it fast. It's also open late, so it's great not just for dinner but for a late-night drink with meat too 🍻

Hours: open daily until 3am
Hours are daily from 15:00 to 03:00 the next day, with last order at 02:30. I really liked that it's open so late. It's a good option when you're looking for a Sangnam-dong BBQ restaurant open into the late hours.
Inside Gogit-ri 88beonji: roomier than expected

The first thing I thought walking in was, "Wait, it's this big?" 😂 The inside was much more spacious than it looked from outside. There looked to be 15+ tables, with generous space between them, making it a good spot for a bigger group too. So it seemed like it'd work well not just for hanging out with friends but for group dinners or company gatherings.

There was also a big TV set up at the front. During big sports events like the World Cup or baseball games, watching together while eating meat would make for a really fun atmosphere ⚾⚽ Being able to eat BBQ while catching a game — that's a nice bonus 😆
The wall covered in customers' photos
There was another fun spot too — a little photo area where customers can take their own pictures.

Customers had taken photos and stuck them up on the wall, and it was fun to look through them one by one. It didn't feel like just a place to eat and leave — more like a spot where memories from past visitors keep piling up, which was nice to see 😊

There were also tips posted around the restaurant on how to eat the meat for the best taste, which was handy to reference.
What's on the menu at Gogit-ri 88beonji

The menu was pretty varied too. Here's the main lineup.
- Gogit-ri Combo A → pork belly + pork neck + gabrisal
- Gogit-ri Combo B → pork belly + pork neck + gabrisal + diced hangjeongsal
- Half a geun of pork neck
- Pork belly
- Gabrisal
- Gochujang-grilled over charcoal briquette
- Diced hangjeongsal
- Pork ribs
There were also plenty of meal and side dishes: ododeuppyeo (cartilage) in rib sauce or spicy sauce, honeycomb tripe, mul-naengmyeon / bibim-naengmyeon (cold noodles), pork kimchi jjigae, doenjang jjigae, old-school dosirak (lunchbox), ramyeon, and steamed egg.

After some deliberation, I ordered the Gogit-ri Combo A. Getting pork belly, pork neck, and gabrisal all at once seemed perfect if you want to sample a few different cuts 👍
Gogit-ri Combo A arrives pre-grilled and pre-cut

The Gogit-ri Combo A finally arrived! And I was a little surprised the moment I saw it — the meat came pre-grilled!

Plus, it came already cut into bite-size pieces, which made things much easier than grilling raw meat from scratch on the table. Since the pre-grilled meat just needs finishing on the grill, it cooked fast, which I liked. And honestly, the moment it arrived, it looked really appetizing 🤤 Watching the meat turn golden brown made me want to dig in right away.
How pork belly, pork neck and gabrisal each tasted

I tried each cut once it was well cooked, and overall the meat was quite tender. The pork belly was savory with juices coming through the more I chewed, and the pork neck was tender rather than dry, so I enjoyed that too.

But personally, my favorite was the gabrisal! It was really tender — it practically melted in my mouth, so I kept reaching for it 😋 The meat alone was delicious, but eating it with the various side dishes brought out a different flavor too.
The side dishes that go with the pork

There was a good variety of side dishes too — scallion salad, pa-kimchi (scallion kimchi), lettuce wraps, pickled perilla leaves, kimchi, and more, all things that go well with meat. I especially loved the combination of pa-kimchi and meat. Putting pa-kimchi on top of a well-grilled piece of meat, the savoriness of the meat and the flavor of the pa-kimchi worked so well together that I kept eating it.

Wrapping the meat and scallion salad together in lettuce was also great 🌿 Mixing and matching like this, the meat disappeared fast before I knew it 😂 So I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a Sangnam-dong pork belly restaurant. Pork belly on its own is great, but ordering Combo A lets you try pork belly, pork neck, and gabrisal all at once, so it'll suit anyone who likes a variety of cuts even better.
Spicy doenjang jjigae: the perfect match for grilled pork

And you can't have BBQ without a stew, right 😆 I ordered the doenjang jjigae as well. This stew was really my style. It wasn't just a mellow doenjang jjigae — it had a proper spicy kick to it, which I loved. A bite of meat followed by a spoonful of doenjang jjigae felt so refreshing!

Especially when you're grilling meat and having a drink in the evening, having a spicy stew like this is really nice 🍻 It went really well with the meat too. Personally, I'd recommend the Gogit-ri Combo A + doenjang jjigae combo.
Worth it for Korean BBQ in Sangnam-dong, Changwon?
Overall, Gogit-ri 88beonji turned out to be a much more spacious place than I expected, and I could enjoy the meat comfortably. With 15+ tables, it seemed good for group seating too — fine for company dinners or gatherings — and with the large TV, it seemed like it'd be even more fun on days with a sports match on.
Above all, I liked that the Gogit-ri Combo A comes pre-grilled, so the grilling time is short and it's easy to eat. I got to try pork belly, pork neck, and gabrisal all at once, and the meat was tender across the board — the gabrisal was especially good, in my opinion 😋 Paired with the spicy doenjang jjigae, it was a great combination for dinner and just as good for a drink.
If you're craving Korean BBQ in Sangnam-dong, especially somewhere open late, this place is worth a visit. Next time I go, I'd like to try some of the other menu items too. 😊
