Changwon BBQ with pork jowl add-on and free steamed egg: Hanpanjip

Today I'm introducing a pork belly and pork neck restaurant inside Gaeumjeong Market~

Where is Hanpanjip, and how do parking and reservations work?

Hanpanjip is inside Gaeumjeong Market in Changwon! Just park in the public lot in front of the market. If you mention it after eating, they give you a 2-hour discount voucher.

I made an 8pm reservation on Naver and arrived a bit early, but all the tables were full so I waited outside for a bit. Watched some videos while waiting haha. Seems like a hot spot. Naver Reservation is a must!! There's a 10% discount coupon if you reserve through Naver. If you're visiting on a weekend, reservations are essential⭐️

There's a baby chair outside. Just a heads-up for anyone who needs one.

The store has a retro feel~ and it was clean. There's storage inside the chairs for your belongings. About 7 tables total.

After much deliberation I ordered the minari platter (₩39,900)✨ The basic platter has a bit more meat, but I went with the minari craving in the end!

The eating order Hanpanjip recommends

There's a sign in the restaurant explaining how to enjoy the meal — tips and the eating order all laid out.

• Eat the free egg soufflé while waiting for the meat
• Once the meat arrives, dip it into the 6 sauces in different combos
• Order the pork-loaded doenjang jjigae, which 97.8% of guests order
• Finish with plum tea or coffee

Side dishes, six dipping sauces and the free steamed egg

Here are the basic side dishes.

So happy to see green onion kimchi and myeongi namul (wild garlic leaf side dish) on the table.

There are 6 dipping sauces too, so it gets busy — ssamjang, garlic salt, curry powder, teriyaki sauce, breadcrumbs, and sesame sauce.

And the egg soufflé they gave us free!! This was seriously good. Usually when a restaurant gives you free egg soufflé, you don't react much because it's just... egg soufflé. But we both looked at each other after eating this. Wait, egg soufflé?😮 — that kind of moment. The seasoning was spot on and the sesame oil aroma was great, and it was even free?! Eating this, I thought, ah, this smells like a real hidden gem.

Pork belly, pork neck and pork skin — vegetables grilled for you

The menu arrives🎉 pork belly, pork neck, and pork skin. Minari, bean sprouts, and baek kimchi (white kimchi) come already grilled too.

Having the vegetables already grilled made things so much easier. As soon as it arrives you can just start eating right away. It was so tasty. There were so many sauces to work through, plus lots of vegetables to wrap the meat in — busy but worth it.

Since there was so much to eat with it (?), we also added pork jowl haha. Pork jowl 100g (₩11,000).

Doenjang sulbap and the free spicy whelk salad

Then a staff member suddenly came over and asked if we'd had to wait, and offered us a free side dish to choose?!? Caught off guard. We'd arrived a bit before our reservation time and waited briefly, and they gave us a free side dish for that — amazing, I'll definitely come back~ I chose the doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice, ₩6,000). Such a good deal I was stunned.

But after ordering, I noticed it said the pork-loaded doenjang jjigae has a 97.8% order rate and that you basically have to order it?! I was so regretful I hadn't seen that sooner, but the doenjang sulbap was also really delicious🔥 Still, I'm so curious about that 97.8% order-rate doenjang jjigae that I'll definitely be back (?)

Then while we were scraping up the last of the doenjang sulbap with kimchi, they suddenly brought out golbaengi muchim (spicy whelk salad) as a free extra,, a perfect finish. This place is so generous I was stunned (happily).

We finished the meal with plum tea~ Eating meat then having plum tea is my mom's favorite thing,, if you come here with your parents they'll love it.

Is Hanpanjip in Changwon worth a visit? Final verdict

Good quality meat, the comfort of pre-grilled everything, generous free extras, and easy reservations. There's no reason not to come back. I'll definitely be back again🔥 Anyway, highly recommend🎉
