Inside Arirang: seating and atmosphere
Walking into Gaeseong Arirang Siksa Branch, the space was more spacious than I expected, with plenty of room between tables. It has a clean, comfortable Korean-restaurant vibe, so it seemed like a good place for a family meal or to bring your parents along.

Ordering from the table tablet: what's on the menu
Arirang Gaeseong Son Mandu Siksa Branch has a tablet ordering system at every table, so I could check photos and prices at a glance and order easily. With mandu hot pot, steamed dumplings, fried dumplings, kalguksu noodles and even a takeout menu, there was plenty of variety to choose from depending on your mood.
Above all, the biggest highlight of Gaeseong Arirang Siksa Branch is exactly what the name says — handmade dumplings kneaded fresh every day! With generously filled dumplings made from fresh ingredients paired with a clean, mild broth, this is definitely worth remembering if you're on the hunt for a Siksa-dong mandu hot pot restaurant.

The kimchi and danmuji self-serve bar
On one side there's a self-serve bar stocked with kimchi and danmuji (pickled radish). You can help yourself to just the right amount and easily grab more if you run out. Pairing a crunchy piece of danmuji or a bite of tangy kimchi with the mandu hot pot really cleans the palate between bites. The mild hot pot broth and kimchi combo really works well together, haha.

How much food is in the mandu hot pot for two?
Inside the big pot, generously sized handmade dumplings are packed in, topped with a mountain of bean sprouts and bok choy. When it first arrived, it looked so full I had to wonder, "Is this really just for two people?"

As it started bubbling, the bean sprouts wilted slightly and the fresh vegetable flavor began seeping into the broth — the smell alone was enough to get my appetite going. The bean sprouts kept their crunch while the bok choy cooked down softly, both pairing well with the clean broth. With so many vegetables in the pot, it was great to fish them out shabu-shabu style first, then eat them alongside the dumplings.

How big are the handmade dumplings, and what's inside?
When you order the mandu hot pot, kalguksu noodles and ready-to-eat steamed dumplings come along with it. Picking up one meat dumpling, the size alone stood out. Lifting it with chopsticks, it felt seriously heavy! And splitting it in half made the quality even clearer — inside the thin, chewy dumpling skin, the filling was packed in with no gaps, so every bite felt substantial.

Finishing with kalguksu noodles and a cup of coffee
Eating your way through the dumplings and vegetables isn't the end — there's still noodle time left. While the hot pot simmers, once the broth has fully absorbed the flavors of the dumplings and vegetables, adding kalguksu noodles kicks off a completely different second round.
Lifting a big chopstick-full of the well-cooked noodles, they glistened with a shine — chewy noodles clinging to the deepened broth made it hard to put my chopsticks down even when I was already full. Eat the dumplings, fish out the bean sprouts and bok choy, and finally slurp down the kalguksu!

There's a coffee machine set up on one side of the restaurant, perfect for wrapping things up cleanly with a warm cup of coffee!
