Seomyeon pork rib restaurant with scallion salad wraps: Gilchon Sutbul

There's a place I think of whenever I want pork ribs with my partner — Gilchon Sutbul Galbi in Seomyeon! We've been here so many times now I honestly can't count anymore haha. This time, once again, we went for delicious pork ribs together 🤍

Where is Gilchon Sutbul Galbi, and what is the room like?

Gilchon Sutbul Galbi is a quick walk from Exit 8 of Seomyeon Station. Step inside and it's mostly tables, done up cleanly, with a good vibe for grilling meat with a group — it looks great for meeting friends or a company dinner :)

A 500g pork rib platter for 29,500 won: what the couple ordered

Gilchon's signature dishes are fresh pork ribs and marinated pork ribs — and with a 500g platter running ₩29,500, it's a place we keep coming back to for good value in Seomyeon and Jeonpo. This time we ordered a marinated pork rib platter with barley shrimp doenjang stew (fermented soybean paste stew) and rice!

What side dishes come with the ribs?

After ordering, the side dishes started arriving one by one — lettuce and perilla leaves for wraps, along with scallion salad, pickled onions, and baek-kimchi (white kimchi), plus sides like potato salad to mix and match with the meat haha.

And finally, the marinated pork rib platter we'd been waiting for arrived! One platter came out in a generous amount, perfect for two. The meat was evenly coated in marinade, and just looking at it made me want to get it on the charcoal grill right away 🤤

Gilchon Sutbul Galbi grills everything directly over charcoal, so the second the meat hits the grill, you get that proper sizzle!

Marinated pork ribs can burn easily if the fire's too strong, so we kept flipping them slowly over the charcoal. Even while taking photos, I just wanted to eat already lol

Right as the meat was almost done, the barley shrimp doenjang stew we'd ordered arrived too 🦐 With the barley shrimp in it, the savory doenjang had an extra layer of umami — perfect alongside the meat haha.

Finally, the marinated pork ribs were all cooked through and ready 🤎 Taking a bite of a nicely browned piece, the sweet marinade plus that faint charcoal aroma reminded me why I can never skip the marinated ribs here haha.

Scallion salad wraps with 1,900 won draft beer

The meat's delicious on its own, but pairing it with scallion salad, pickled onions, and baek-kimchi gives it a whole different flavor! Personally, piling on a ton of scallion salad was the best combo for me haha. And sipping on ₩1,900 draft beer in between — meat and beer really do go hand in hand lol

Once again we polished off the marinated pork ribs, barley shrimp doenjang stew, and rice with my partner 🤎 I've lost count of how many times we've been here — it's just the place that naturally comes to mind whenever we crave meat! If you're looking for good pork ribs in Seomyeon, I'd recommend Gilchon Sutbul Galbi. We'll probably be back again the next time we're craving pork ribs haha.
