Today I want to introduce Hekbap Kkachisan Branch, a Japanese home-style rice bowl restaurant near Kkachisan Station!
You've probably heard the name Hekbap before — it's a rice bowl and ramen franchise with over 250 locations nationwide! It looked so familiar to me too, and sure enough, it turned out to be a franchise!
I often go to rice bowl places when eating alone, and when I found out there was a Hekbap near Kkachisan Station, I went right away haha. Let's get into it!

Hekbap Kkachisan Branch opening hours and break time
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is open 11:00–21:00, with a break time from 15:00 to 16:30 and last order at 20:30. There's no on-site parking, so use the Hwagokbon 1-1 public parking lot near Kkachisan Station instead.
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch
Here's some really important info!! There's a break time from 3pm to 4:30pm! If you're heading over for a late lunch, definitely check the hours first! I almost went for nothing because I didn't know about it hahaha.

How to get there from Exit 3 of Kkachisan Station
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is right near Exit 3 of Kkachisan Station! It's basically right there as soon as you come out of the exit, which is great, and it's on the 2nd floor of the building, so just look for the sign and head up.

Inside Hekbap Kkachisan Branch: atmosphere and seating
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch has really spacious seating. It's great for groups too — I came for a late weekend lunch, and right after I sat down, a whole crowd of people suddenly showed up for late lunch too!

The restaurant is super clean, the staff are friendly, and every item on the menu is available for takeout too!

What's on the menu at Hekbap Kkachisan Branch
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch really has a huge menu! Just for rice bowls alone there's cube steak, pork jowl, soy-marinated shrimp, salmon, and more, plus curry rice bowls, ramen, mazesoba, and cutlet dishes — great for going with people who have different tastes!

I went with the cube steak set! You order and pay right on the tablet, so it's easy even for solo diners!

Spicy ramen with tonkatsu, and it comes with rice too
I also ordered the cube steak and a ramen! I wanted spicy instead of the clear broth, so I went with that. I got the ramen as a set and added tonkatsu! The portion was huge?! Plus the ramen set even comes with rice!

It's perfect when the weather's chilly or you're craving something in broth 🍜. If you're going with someone, I'd also recommend ordering one rice bowl and one ramen to share! There's an egg on top of the ramen too, and the spicy aroma is really something!

The signature cube steak rice bowl set, 13,900 won
Hekbap's signature menu item is the cube steak rice bowl! Just as the name suggests, steak cut into cubes sits on top of the rice, and it already passes the visual test!
It's on the pricier side for a rice bowl (₩13,900), but considering the amount and quality of the steak, it makes sense! Eating it together with the sauce and rice gives a nicely savory flavor! If it's your first time, I definitely recommend trying this one!

The best way to eat the cube steak rice bowl
There's even a guide on how to enjoy it! Instead of mixing the rice, you scoop it up together with the meat so you get just the right amount of sauce! Add the toppings on the rice however suits your taste.

The best way to eat the spicy ramen
The ramen also came with a guide on how to eat it. Before the noodles, you drink the hot broth first, then mix in the various toppings with the noodles — I liked that there were so many toppings! There's chashu pork in it too, and the spicy, tangy kick makes it feel like a good hangover ramen too.

Final verdict on lunch at Hekbap Kkachisan Branch
The tonkatsu went really well with the ramen! I wanted to mix the leftover rice into the ramen too, but after eating the tonkatsu I was already way too full, so I skipped the rice haha.
For anyone looking for a good solo dining spot near Kkachisan Station, or wanting a hearty rice bowl meal, I recommend Hekbap Kkachisan Branch! Prices are in the low-to-mid ten-thousand-won range, which feels pretty good value considering how expensive eating out has gotten these days!
