Hyehwa date-night garlic pollock roe pasta: Omil restaurant

What is the atmosphere like inside Omil Hyehwa Daehangno?

The restaurant is on the smaller side, but its overall yellow tones made it feel warm. It's great for photos and for sharing a meal on a date. I could see from the interior alone why there were so many female guests.

Spoons and forks were neatly set out on the tables.

At the self-service bar on one side, there was water, pickles, and wet wipes.

This was an omurice I'd seen a lot on Instagram 🐣 It comes with a cute rubber-duck toy and omurice topped with quail-egg chicks? Just looking at it, it was so Instagram-worthy that I couldn't not take photos, haha.

On top of the fluffy fried rice was a soft egg blanket, along with the quail-egg chicks. It looked almost too cute to eat. I thought it would be basic fried rice, but there was even grilled salmon? inside, so it had a nice bite and a nutty flavor. Such a cute, pretty dish that lifted my mood too—not just the kids'.

I chose the spicy pollock roe pasta thinking it would be cream pasta. It turned out to be an oil pasta with lots of garlic, like aglio e olio. It really was packed with pollock roe, so you could feel its texture and taste its aroma clearly. After eating at places that put in just a little roe and call it pollock roe pasta, I was totally satisfied with this one ^^ It had loads of garlic too, so it smelled great.

Crunchy corn fritters, a great pasta side

I chose the crunchy corn fritters as a side. Crispy fried corn was generously sprinkled with taco-like seasoning. They were nice to pick at one by one while eating pasta. They weren't intensely crunchy, but the popping corn texture was good, and they were more addictive than I expected—I kept reaching for them, haha.

You know that when you order the rubber-duck omurice, a rubber-duck bath toy comes with it, right? If you're visiting with a child, it would make a nice little gift. We aren't children, but getting a present still made for a happy day 😝

Omil was fun overall, with a varied menu and cute dishes like the rubber-duck omurice. There were lots of dishes that two people could share, from pasta to omurice, so it suited a Daehangno date meal really well. Omil Hyehwa Daehangno was a Hyehwa pasta spot where I could have a comfortable date meal in a cute, warm atmosphere.
