Daegu pocha with crab fish cake stew and baseball: Eomuk Pocha Tong

Now that evenings are getting cooler, I've been craving that pocha (Korean-style outdoor pub) atmosphere haha. I was looking for a good-vibe bar around Dongchon Resort in Daegu and found Eomuk Pocha Tong — here's my review ☺️

Walking into Eomuk Pocha Tong, the tables were spacious and the seats roomy — perfect for group gatherings or work dinners!!! Great atmosphere for having a drink while watching the game.

What the rooftop terrace near Dongchon Resort feels like

As soon as we arrived I ran straight outside haha. The outdoor pocha vibe at Dongchon Resort was seriously great‼️ 🥹 The open-air space combined with that classic pocha feel — just sitting there with the evening breeze felt healing~~~

On a nice-weather day, there's nothing better than sitting outside with good drinking snacks and a drink, soaking up the mood haha. Would be a great date spot too! Soft, dreamy vibes~~~

Each corner has a different pocha concept, so it was fun picking where to sit!

Honestly I wanted to sit outside at night... but my son is such a huge baseball fan lol, so we ended up sitting inside where we could watch the game!

Fish cake stew with blue crab: how big and how good?

The dish I was most looking forward to that day was, of course, the fish cake stew! But the moment the pot arrived, I was shocked.🫢 Shocked by the portion size... and the crab was piled in generously with a mountain of bean sprouts on top — the quality was something else⁉️⁉️

You scoop the broth with this little red ladle, and somehow that made me nostalgic haha, maybe that's what pocha flavor really is.

The refreshing taste from the crab combined with the clean crunch of the bean sprouts made it spicy yet soothing! Perfect as a drinking snack, and perfect as a hangover cure too‼️‼️

There's also rice cake and egg tucked underneath, so just looking at it already felt filling lol.

Kkanpung boneless chicken, made less spicy for a child

It felt like a waste to just have the fish cake stew, so we also ordered the kkanpung boneless fried chicken — the sauce was glossy just from the look of it haha.

The crispy fried boneless chicken was coated in a sweet-and-salty kkanpung sauce, and it came with vegetables too, making it feel much more substantial than just eating chicken alone haha.

Since we had our kid with us, the owner was thoughtful enough to make it less spicy! Such a small gesture, but I really appreciated it!

The free pre-6pm snack and our verdict on Eomuk Pocha Tong

On top of everything, arriving before 6pm gets you free fried chicken gizzards + fries~~ We only ordered one fish cake stew but got a mountain of crab, bean sprouts, and rice cake, plus crispy-outside-tender-inside sweet-spicy kkanpung chicken and the free service on top‼️‼️‼️ Great drinking snacks, great atmosphere, and we even got to watch baseball — even with a kid along, we thoroughly enjoyed the vibe haha.
