Toning Down a Patchy Bob With a Dark Matte Color

It had been a year and a half since I’d left my blunt bob alone... I hadn’t exactly dyed it, but why was my hair so patchy..? I guess the damaged parts were gradually getting lighter. Ugh. It looked so messy, and with the cool wind coming in, I wanted to tone it down too—so off I went to a hair salon near Myeongji University for color, for the first time in ages. Here’s my review after a thorough color appointment with Director Taeyeon at Lian Hair Myeongji University Branch 2 (리안헤어 명지대2호점). : )

One Minute on Foot From Myeongji University’s Main Gate

Because of its location, this Myeongji University hair salon is far from the subway station, but it’s literally one minute on foot from the university’s main gate, so it’s easy to get here by bus.

The interior is spacious and pleasant! The overall atmosphere is bright and clean. : )

Being on the second floor means it has a nice view, too. I think that’s a maple tree, so the autumn foliage view must be even prettier in winter. Heh.

You can catch a glimpse of Myeongji University through the window. It’s seriously right there. Hahaha. If you’re looking for a hair salon around Myeongji University, come here!

You can also peek into the cozy shampoo room beside the counter. The staff member who shampooed my hair had such a delicate touch that I started getting sleepy during the shampoo. Hahahahahahaha.

Even though it was weekday lunchtime, there were quite a few customers, so I waited leisurely while taking a quick look at the products for sale.

Membership and Refreshments

Source: Naver Place. When you join the membership, there are various extra discounts and services depending on the value voucher, so you can use it at a more reasonable price. It would be especially worthwhile for families to use together, maybe? I’m thinking of considering the membership when I go back for a perm next time. I was so satisfied!

They also prepare refreshments. I was so tired that day that I downed an Americano, yet I still kept nodding off throughout the appointment. That’s how gentle the staff’s hands were.. haha.

Color and Cut Finished Matte, With No Red Tones

Revealing the messy before photo! I mean, it looks like it had been 10 years since I colored it—how could it possibly be this patchy..? Hahahahahaha. Super-dark hair doesn’t suit me, so I wanted to tone it down evenly to about the color of the hair underneath.

And here is the after of the color + cut. Applause~~~ clap clap clap Isn’t it so much cleaner and more polished? Director Taeyeon is seriously so skilled. Of course the color was great, but she also just snips away and gives you a smart, stylish cut on her own. And she’s absolutely gorgeous, too. (Whispering.) Hahahahaha.

When I said I really hate it when my color fades red, she added just a touch of blue. Very black hair makes me look closed-in and doesn’t suit me, so I was super satisfied that it came out as exactly the matte dark color I wanted!

I did take photos of the process here and there, but the coloring process is, well..... you all know it, right...? Hahahahahaha.

Rather than the predictable process, I wanted to highlight the dramatic before and after.
