Hongdae hair salon cut and Luminous Clinic: Obeumua Hongdae
In short
Obeumua Hongdae Branch is a hair salon near Hongik University Station in Mapo, Seoul. After taking a break from perms, I got a light cut and Luminous Clinic treatment, which made my hair easier to manage. Verdict: a refreshing hair-care reset before more perms or color.

Why I took a break from perms for a cut and treatment
This year, I had been wearing an easy-to-blow-dry perm for a while, but I wanted a change for the first time in ages, so I decided to take a break from perms this time. After keeping up with perms for so long, I wanted to focus on the condition of my hair itself rather than styling it—so I decided to get a cut and a treatment together!
Off to Obeumua Hongdae Branch, timed around my commute!

Obeumua Hongdae Branch location and its early-morning atmosphere
Obeumua Hongdae Branch is close to Exit 1 of Hongik University Station! It is easy enough to find, and the salon is on the second floor, so keep that in mind!

I arrived early in the morning, and I loved how bright and quiet it was inside!

Design consultation, shampoo, and even snacks
First came the style consultation, then the shampoo. The shampoo room was spacious and pleasant too~! They gave me a scalp massage while shampooing, so I got all nice and sleepy.

As soon as I sat down, they prepared a drink and snacks! It is not often that a hair salon gives you an iced latte, and having snacks too meant I could comfortably nibble away during the appointment. The salted crackers were tasty too!

How did the Luminous Clinic treatment go?
This time, I got a cut and the Luminous Clinic treatment together.
The Luminous Clinic treatment cared for protein, moisture, and oil step by step. They sectioned my hair, combed it through, and gently worked it in so it could absorb~

First, they shampooed my hair, then applied the protein care and gave it a steam treatment. My scalp and hair had such a hard time in the summer heat! It seems like I will need nourishing care for a while. With every passing year, I feel like I get more and more serious about caring for my hair and scalp!
The steam was not hot and spread evenly through my hair! Soak right in! These days, even seeing individual hairs fall out makes me shudder.
Simply put, the protein step replenishes components that make up the hair, while the moisture and oil care work alongside it so the hair does not feel overly dry and rough!

A light cut to tidy up the remaining perm
The permed ends were cut away, and I asked them to make it as light as possible!
Waiting under the steam treatment, I relaxed from the warmth and was more comfortable than I expected. And then the cut! It had been a while since I had skipped a perm and gotten a neat cut, and my hair definitely felt lighter.
After the cut, they gave me another scalp massage while doing the moisture and oil care, followed by one more steam treatment!

Most of all, rather than getting a new perm this time, I tidied up my style with a cut and focused on hair condition with the treatment!

What changed after the cut and treatment
Instead of constantly getting perms or color like lately, it feels like it is time to take breaks now and then and care for my hair! The cut is definitely lighter and makes washing my hair easier, haha.

My cut and treatment from the stylist!

After the cut, my hair felt much lighter and looked neater than before styling, so even my mood felt refreshed~ Then I headed straight to a lunch date! It was very nice.
