Hwial Ajou University Branch on a Sunday night: what the bar is like

This is my second visit to Hwial, a go-to date spot near Ajou University >_< My boyfriend and I were hanging out and it wasn't quite dinnertime since we'd had a late lunch, but I still wanted to eat something and also unwind a bit, so we picked this Korean-style bar as our dinner substitute for the day.

It's really close to Ajou University so I expected mostly college students, but there were actually a lot of office workers chatting away too! Even on a Sunday night, the place was pretty full.

By the way, we'd planned to take a walk around Ajou University after eating, but as working adults, food just makes us sleepy lol. So the walk got postponed~~~ Anyway, late-night snack then straight to bed~~ so happy haha

The outdoor space had such great atmosphere >_< A stone bridge over gravel~! We crossed through the entrance and headed inside.

How comfortable are the sofa seats at Hwial?

Last time we got seated at the inner tables, but today we were led to the sofa seats! Sofa seating is comfy, so comfy~ The tables were spaced well apart and had backrests, making it a nice private spot to chat and eat haha

Non-alcoholic bokbunja highball and the rest of our order

Since I'm a lightweight, I ordered a non-alcoholic bokbunja highball, and my boyfriend picked the same menu item but with alcohol in it! FYI the highball menu has a 3+1 deal, so it's great for having two rounds each or coming with four people +_+

There were also a lot of great-value discount menu items! We chose the aged salmon sashimi, and since we hadn't had dinner, we also ordered the beef fat doenjang sul-bap as a dinner substitute haha

They also had matcha makgeolli, ube makgeolli, and draft beer. I wanted the matcha makgeolli, but since my boyfriend was already full and wanted something cleaner like a highball, we decided to save that for next time +_+ I watched another table order the matcha makgeolli and it looked like a generous portion and delicious! I'm basically matcha-obsessed so haha

The complimentary popcorn that came out first~ I meant to just taste it and save my appetite for the actual dishes, but it kept disappearing faster than expected and I had a hard time stopping myself lol

Aged salmon sashimi at a discount

We got to have the salmon sashimi at a discounted price! There's also a 100g add-on option, so salmon lovers might want to add it on~ As a salmon lover, I happily ate my fill of salmon lol

Squeeze on some lemon juice, then take a bite with the onions topped with tartar sauce(?)~

I dipped the salmon in soy sauce too and it just melted in my mouth haha So happy, so happy~ Salmon is always delicious no matter when you eat it lol Honestly, my boyfriend mentioned he'd had sashimi with friends the day before, and it's no secret that's exactly what made me suddenly crave salmon lol We ended up having raw fish two days in a row, but he happily went along with it because I wanted it — the best boyfriend~

Chadol doenjang sul-bap as a dinner substitute

Since we hadn't had dinner, we also ordered the beef fat doenjang sul-bap! Having a steaming hot soup with a bowl of rice really did hit the spot and made me feel all warm and sleepy~ No matter how I think about it, I really am a power Korean lol Korean food is the best,, I truly can't live without it,,

And so, after a week of hard work, we wrapped up our week nicely at Hwial, our go-to date spot near Ajou University >_<

Now that we've eaten well, time to power through next week and show up to work like a cool office worker!! When is Friday night going to get here?? (This is being written on a Monday lol Still?? The fact that it's Monday is a trap.. Give me Friday night.... Give me the weekend.... haha Give me time off work~~~~)
