Hi, this is Seul-i. Today's post is my review of Lucky Dragon JCB, a Sindang Station bar! Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang is a Chinese-style izakaya, and the menu ranges from Japanese-style yakisoba and gyoza all the way to Chinese-style mapo tofu — such a wide variety! It felt like a mash-up of Japanese and Chinese food, and the taste was honestly amazing. Here's my detailed, honest review 🩶

Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang is just a 2-minute walk from Sindang Station Exit 4! Isn't being close to the station kind of essential when you're out drinking? 👀

Here's what the exterior looks like! It's this wooden building that feels like something out of a Studio Ghibli film. And the light spilling out from inside already gives off great vibes ✨

Here's the inside! The interior has the same great atmosphere as the outside, right? This warm mood is perfect for having a drink — the interior design is completely great. It'd be a great date spot too! 💛

The menu is laid out so you can see everything at a glance. There's rice and noodle dishes good for a meal, cooked dishes, and simple bites that are perfect for a second round •• 💓 There's something to eat whether you're here for round one or round two. Having such a varied lineup made this place feel really easy to enjoy 🙂↕️

We came for round two, but the food was so good we ended up ordering this and that! Let me give a detailed review dish by dish 👀

Mapo tofu: the signature dish that comes with a bowl of rice

This seemed to be Lucky Dragon's famous menu item, so we ordered the mapo tofu! Mapo tofu comes with rice on the side. It had just the right amount of thickness, and once you stir it well and scoop up a spoonful...!

Soft, silky tofu piled generously in a spicy sauce...! The ground meat was mixed in too, giving it a nice chewy texture. It felt like they didn't skimp on ingredients at all.

It was spicy with savory depth, making it a great drinking snack too! The sauce was so generous it was easy to scoop up in big spoonfuls, and mixed with rice it worked great as a meal too ✨ For a Chinese-style izakaya, this tasted good enough to pass for a Chinese specialty restaurant!

Handmade yaki gyoza: crisp on one side, juicy on the other

These are handmade yaki gyoza made right at the restaurant. One side crisp, the other side soft and juicy 💓

Aren't they really well pan-fried?! The two sides are so different — it really does feel like Japan here •• A moment ago it felt like China, but the second I bit into the gyoza it felt like I'd landed in Japan 🥹

I got too excited eating and the photo came out a bit blurry, but the inside was truly juicy and packed with meat broth! I love gyoza, and this one ranks among the best I've had. This place seems to specialize in gyoza too 👀

Kuro-subuta: Japanese black vinegar sweet and sour pork

Three of us had already eaten dinner and still ended up ordering the kuro-subuta! This was a dish I'd never seen before — they said it's Japanese-style black vinegar sweet and sour pork. We ordered it because we were craving something fried.

It felt like the sweet and sour pork we know, but with big chunks of vegetables, and being black-vinegar-based it had this sweet-and-tangy edge ✨ It felt like something right in between Chinese and Japanese food 👀

Even with sauce poured over it, the batter stayed totally crisp! And the sauce was so good I kept reaching for more. If you visit Lucky Dragon, definitely order this dish 💛

Indoor restroom stocked with hand cream, floss, and cotton swabs

Also, Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang has its restroom inside the building. Isn't it just me who finds it inconvenient when the restroom is outside?! 🙋

The restroom was also kept very clean! And at the entrance there was hand cream, floss, cotton swabs, and even Febreze. Being able to take care of these little things that can bug you after a meal really showed the owner's thoughtfulness 👀

Is Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang worth it for a first or second round?

From the exterior to the interior, the atmosphere at Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang was so good. It's great for a meal and just as great for a drink. Prices are very reasonable too, and with the taste to match, it's a total all-rounder of a bar. If you're near Sindang Station craving a good-vibe izakaya, or Chinese food, or Japanese food, I strongly recommend Lucky Dragon JCB Sindang!
