Deciding where to eat with friends is always a bit of a headache, isn't it? Especially when meeting a bigger group — taste matters, sure, but so does whether it's too loud, whether it's easy to talk, and whether the place can handle a group at all.
This time I visited Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch, located halfway between Gangnam Station and Yangjae Station!
This isn't your usual samgyeopsal (pork belly) place — they have a signature menu called 'galbi samgyeopsal.' I was really curious what that even meant at first, but apparently it's a dish they developed specifically for extra flavor and texture. No wonder the meat felt chewier and more tender than usual. Plus, the staff grill everything for you. All we had to do was eat!
On top of that, it's corkage-free and has group rental options, so it seemed like a great spot not just for a regular meal but also for wedding invitation gatherings or work dinners near Gangnam Station. We ordered their signature Giun Set and Giun Fried Rice ෆ

Where is Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch, and what are its hours?

It's set back from the main Gangnam Station strip, so the area around the restaurant wasn't too crowded. It's an easy walk from Exit 4 of Gangnam Station or near Baengbang intersection. Reservations are available through Naver Reservation and Catch Table.
Giun: a calm Korean BBQ restaurant near Gangnam Station

We arrived an hour before last order! From the exterior alone, Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch felt totally different from the noisy pork belly joints I was used to. The interior is clean overall, and divider panels separate the seats, so it doesn't feel like you're crammed right up against the next table — great!
So it seems perfect not just for dinner with friends but for gatherings where you'll be talking for a long time. Especially these days, with so many people planning weddings and looking for spots for invitation gatherings — those aren't just about eating, the conversation tends to run long, so this stuff really matters.
- ✅ Not too loud
- ✅ Comfortable for group seating
- ✅ Conversation doesn't get interrupted by grilling
- ✅ Good for a drink or two
At Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch, staff grill the meat for you, so nobody has to hold the tongs the whole time!! There are also rooms for 4–6 people, so if you're planning a more private Gangnam Station gathering or wedding invitation meetup, it might be worth asking about them when you book.
First taste of Giun's galbi samgyeopsal, 600g on the grill

What we ordered was the Giun Set — ₩60,000 (600g galbi samgyeopsal + assorted vegetables) — the best way to fully enjoy Giun's signature dish.
Seeing the thick meat still attached to the bone, I felt oddly excited?? It's basically the samgyeopsal I know, just with a bone attached...!

Galbi samgyeopsal, Giun's signature dish, differs from regular samgyeopsal in that the bone is still attached, so you get to enjoy the rib-area meat as well, apparently. The meat was thicker than it looked and came with a variety of vegetables, so the presentation was very generous. If you want something different from your average Gangnam Station samgyeopsal, I'd recommend this dish.
You'll never have to grill the meat yourself, so just relax and eat :) At Giun, the meat browns up really fast over strong charcoal heat. They grill the vegetables in sequence too, so just focus on the conversation.
This kind of service is great for anyone who's bad at grilling, but personally I think it's even better for group gatherings. No more interrupting the conversation with 'Ah! The meat's burning!' So at a Gangnam Station work dinner or wedding invitation gathering where conversation matters, having staff grill for you is a huge plus!
How is galbi samgyeopsal different from regular samgyeopsal?
Finally, the moment I'd been waiting for — the first bite of galbi samgyeopsal! Once the first piece is cooked, they put it on your plate and recommend trying it with salt first. Fully cooked pieces go on top of minari (water celery). Honestly, the meat was so good it paired best with just plain salt.
The meat was savory and chewy in the best way! You get that classic pork-belly fattiness, but with enough thickness for a satisfying bite. Grilled golden over charcoal, it was crispy and savory outside, moist inside!
It wasn't a completely unfamiliar new flavor — more like, 'Oh! This is the flavor I know! But softer, with something extra to it!'

It has the familiar taste of samgyeopsal plus the fun of eating the meat around the bone, so if you're tired of regular samgyeopsal, switching to galbi samgyeopsal could be a nice change!

Giun's side dishes and sauces for the grilled vegetables
Giun serves a wide variety of side dishes to go with the meat: salt, green onion kimchi, wild garlic leaves (myeongi-namul), chive-and-onion salad, salted seafood, and more. Dip it in salt, eat it with wasabi, eat it with ssamjang (soybean paste)!
There are even separate sauces for the grilled vegetables — once the green onions are grilled, dip them in soy sauce; once the garlic scapes are grilled, dip them in miso mustard sauce. Personally, the soy sauce with grilled green onion... so good, and the salted seafood was savory and amazing too. The green onion kimchi, wild garlic leaves, and chive salad were all great! The garlic scapes were incredibly savory too, ㅠ.ㅠ They grill the kimchi too, and that was seriously delicious....
If the side dishes are lackluster, the meat can get tiring fast, you know? But with all these vegetables and side dishes alongside the meat, the 600g of galbi samgyeopsal disappeared in no time.. and I was stuffed...💞

Finishing with Giun fried rice at 9,000 won
And here comes the true dessert of any Korean BBQ restaurant — fried rice. Giun Fried Rice — ₩9,000.
We waited to order it, thinking we had to order fried rice at the end, but since it's served as a separate dish, it seems fine to order it earlier too. It came piled with cheese, and instead of tasting greasy, it had a nice hint of herbs — I really liked it! If you're eating meat at Giun, I highly recommend the fried rice.
Planning a wedding invitation gathering in Gangnam? Giun's free corkage and rooms
Another great point for group gatherings — free corkage! Giun allows you to bring your own alcohol at no extra charge. So if you're meeting friends who like wine, you could bring something to your taste and enjoy it with the galbi samgyeopsal. There were actually other customers enjoying wine with their meal too, haha.
Especially for wedding invitation gatherings near Gangnam Station, catching up with friends over drinks after a while often means the conversation runs long. With the staff grilling the meat and free corkage, you can eat well and still stay focused on the conversation! I think Giun checks every box. The restaurant also sells soju, beer, wine, whiskey, highball, and draft beer, so keep that in mind :)

Is Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch worth it? Final verdict
Having visited in person, this isn't just a place that does good samgyeopsal — the signature galbi samgyeopsal dish is what really stuck with me. Getting to eat tastier meat made me so happy.. and the staff-grilling service was excellent too! (They grill it so well..)
When you're having a group gathering near Gangnam Station or Yangjae Station, what matters as much as the food is whether it's easy to talk, whether it works for groups, the service, and the drinks. On all of these fronts, this is a restaurant I'd recommend for a Gangnam Station work dinner or wedding invitation gathering!
If you're looking for a Korean BBQ near Gangnam Station and want something cleaner and tastier than the usual samgyeopsal, give Giun's galbi samgyeopsal a try! It was my first time trying this dish, but I fell in love with it..❤ Looking at these photos makes me want it again... my heart's racing. Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch really lived up to its name — I left feeling full of energy ('giun').
