In short
Giun Gangnam Station Main Branch is a clean, no-fuss Korean BBQ restaurant a short walk from Gangnam Station in Seoul, where the staff grill the meat for you from start to finish. The Donggiun set — galbi samgyeopsal (rib-end pork belly), pork neck and hanging tender, 550g in total, with a vegetable platter included — was just the right amount for two, washed down with Asahi draft beer. It's been a real while since I had plans near Gangnam Station, so I searched hard for good restaurants and found this Korean BBQ spot that wasn't far from the station and looked clean. The set menu looked great too, so I figured it'd be a solid pick for company dinners — and sure enough, even on a Wednesday at 8pm, the place was packed with what looked like office workers from nearby. If a Gangnam Station spot is full of office workers, you know you've found a real gem haha.

What comes in the 550g Donggiun set for two

Let me show you the menu first — it's got just what it needs and nothing more. I ordered the Donggiun set, made up of galbi samgyeopsal (rib-cut pork belly), pork neck, and hanging tender, 550g total, which was the perfect amount for two! It also comes with a vegetable platter, so honestly you should just get the set haha. Oh, and there's whiskey pairing available too!
Once we sat down, they brought out the side dishes first — the plating was so clean, and there were quite a few sides to go with the meat, which was perfect.

Whiskey pairing or Asahi draft beer at Giun?
Oh, and they also had a few kinds of whiskey for pairing, which was such a nice touch

But being someone who loves draft beer, I saw the Asahi draft poster and immediately ordered a draft beer.

I love Asahi's smooth taste so much that whenever a place has Asahi draft, I just order it automatically... it was so good haha.

While sipping the beer, the food I ordered arrived — you know grilled vegetables are seriously good, right? The meat quality was great as expected, and with the vegetables served alongside, it felt like it'd taste even better haha.

Galbi samgyeopsal grilled for you by the staff
They put the galbi samgyeopsal on the grill first, and the meat quality was seriously great.
Having the staff grill everything was so convenient — I just chatted with my friend while waiting for it to cook through haha. They really grilled the meat perfectly.

They placed the first piece on our plate, and the doneness was absolutely perfect and so delicious ㅠㅠㅠ If you're ordering à la carte, you have to get the galbi samgyeopsal.

They also serve the grilled vegetables like this — grilled green onion with a soy sauce dip? Absolutely delicious. And I love baek-kimchi (white kimchi) anyway, but grilled baek-kimchi? Ten times more delicious.

Pork neck and hanging tender with no gamey smell
Next up, pork neck! I like both samgyeopsal (pork belly) and pork neck, so being able to have both in one set is honestly great value.

The pork neck was also grilled so well, and eating it with minari (water dropwort) was pure bliss.
And last, hanging tender! Sometimes at places that don't do it well, hanging tender has that distinct gamey smell, but at Giun there was none of that and it was so delicious haha. The set is so well put together that you get galbi samgyeopsal, pork neck, and hanging tender at a reasonable price, and if you're like me and want to try a little of several cuts, I definitely recommend the set.
Still, if I had to pick one favorite, it's definitely the galbi samgyeopsal! It's not as fatty as pure samgyeopsal, but it has just enough fat for a savory, chewy texture that I loved haha. Also, how the meat is grilled makes a huge difference to the taste even with good-quality meat, and the staff grilled everything so well that it stayed delicious all the way through.
Does Giun Gangnam Station work for a company dinner?
All the staff were so kind and attentive, which made for a really pleasant evening haha. If you're looking for a clean Korean BBQ restaurant near Gangnam Station, I really recommend Giun, and it'd also make a great spot for a company dinner ♥
