Apgujeong Rodeo Chinese bar: Peking duck set for two & Harbin beer

A little while ago, my friend and I finally set a date to meet up after way too long — and we picked Apgujeong!

After a lot of back and forth on what to eat, I got a serious craving for proper Peking duck, so we headed to 'Mirim Yangjang Apgujeong,' a hot spot in Apgujeong Rodeo right now 🦆 We booked ahead through Catch Table! You can also reserve through Naver.

Finding Mirim Yangjang Apgujeong: the basement entrance and interior

Mirim Yangjang Apgujeong is a Chinese-style bar tucked in the basement on Eonju-ro 168-gil in Apgujeong Rodeo. From the entrance, the grand signage immediately catches your eye!

The stairwell down to the basement is decked out in a red carpet and lighting, giving off a luxe, striking mood — it's hip from the moment you step in.

Once inside, the cozy red booth seats and lighting really give off a high-end Chinese restaurant feel.

As soon as we sat down, they quickly set out neat little side dishes, and ordering was easy — just scan the QR code on the table!

The Peking duck set for two at Mirim Yangjang Apgujeong comes loaded with half a Peking duck, wood ear mushroom and cucumber salad, and fried eggplant. We ordered this set so we could enjoy a good variety of dishes together!

The neat, generous presentation made me a believer the moment it hit the table — this is definitely one of Apgujeong's atmospheric go-to spots!

Wrapping the Peking duck skin in wheat pancakes

The main event — Peking duck!

I tried the duck skin first, served separately — crispy, with a burst of savory fat in your mouth. Pure art 😭 Of course, there's also meat with a nice balance of fat and lean bits!

Wrap the thin, chewy wheat pancake around tender duck meat, sweet bean sauce, shredded scallion, and shredded cucumber, and it's an explosion of umami!

They kept refilling the wheat pancakes, scallion, and cucumber whenever we ran low, so we could wrap generously right down to the last bite. We kept wrapping so much we ended up refilling twice, haha.

The side dishes: wood ear mushroom and cucumber salad and fried eggplant

The wood ear mushroom and cucumber salad that comes with the set is tossed in sauce, tangy and crunchy, and it completely cuts through the richness of the duck!

The smashed cucumber (oi-tang-tang-i) is hollowed out and refreshingly crunchy all the way through!

The freshly fried eggplant was crispy outside, moist and hot inside, and

paired with a sweetish sauce that had me genuinely impressed after one bite. Fried food really is best fresh out of the fryer.

How Harbin beer pairs with the Peking duck

We ordered a cold Harbin beer to go with the fancy Chinese dishes and washed everything down with my friend! One crispy-outside-tender-inside duck wrap followed by a cool sip of beer, and all the stress just melted away 🤍

The vibe is so upscale and hip that it's perfect for a couple's date, or for a get-together with close friends — a real Apgujeong Rodeo go-to. Actually, the table across from us was having a company dinner!! The hot pot looked amazing too... I'll have to come back and try that next time 😋😋
