Yeongdeungpo yakitori bar, beef intestine skewers and takoyaki: Nani

In short

Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch is an izakaya across from Times Square in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, with a traditional Japanese-house exterior, counter seats and table seats. Two friends shared 6 pork belly scallion skewers (₩15,000) and 3 beef intestine skewers (₩12,000), then added takoyaki because the chicken skewers and shin ramyun risotto were sold out. The charcoal-scented skewers went well with drinks, making Nani Byeolgwan an easy place for a casual round in Yeongdeungpo.

Where is Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch?

Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch is an izakaya right across from Times Square, a quick walk from Yeongdeungpo Station. On a day I'd planned to grab drinks with a friend in Yeongdeungpo, we debated where to go and ended up here haha. I'd heard it's always busy and had been wanting to check it out — finally made it 😊

The location is super accessible, and it's a great spot for a light drink after shopping or catching a movie at Times Square. Seems like it's also popular as a date spot in Yeongdeungpo.

Counter seats or table seats: inside Nani Byeolgwan

The exterior alone caught my eye right away. It's designed to look like a traditional Japanese house, so the vibe stands out even from a distance. Pretty good for photos too.

Walking in, the counter seats were the first thing I saw near the entrance. Staff cook right in the middle of it, so it kind of felt like being on a trip to Japan haha.

Further inside there was a separate table area, with a wall styled like a bookshelf and soft lighting — the atmosphere was really nice. Not too bright, just quiet enough, perfect for drinking.

The tables were a bit higher than a typical bar, and the chairs had some height to them too. We were seated on the 1st floor, but they also run a 2nd floor. Seeing a steady stream of people heading upstairs, it really seemed packed haha. Lively atmosphere, good for group get-togethers too.

You check the menu via QR and order directly with staff haha. We started by ordering the pork belly scallion skewers (₩15,000) and beef intestine skewers (₩12,000).

Cabbage salad served as a complimentary side

The complimentary side was a cabbage salad. Since it's raw cabbage, it had a nice crunch, and the sauce was slightly salty, so I kept reaching for it. Good light bite while waiting for the mains. Food took a bit of time to come out, probably because the skewers are grilled to order. The longer wait just built up the anticipation haha.

Pork belly scallion skewers and beef intestine skewers! The look alone calls for a drink haha.

3 beef intestine skewers, eaten straight off the grill

Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch's beef intestine skewers (₩12,000) came as 3 skewers, and I really recommend eating these the moment they arrive. Hot off the grill, the charcoal aroma hits right away and the fatty richness of the intestine was really tasty.

Slightly crispy outside and juicy inside — a really good match for drinking.

And here's what I enjoyed the most — the pork belly scallion skewers! ₩15,000 for a total of 6 skewers, and they looked delicious just sitting there.

Cross-section of a skewer with scallion wrapped in grilled pork belly

Scallion sits inside, wrapped in pork belly and grilled. One bite and the scallion aroma spreads gently, along with the rich, fatty flavor of the pork belly. On top of that, a generous helping of teriyaki sauce added a sweet-salty note that kept me reaching for more.

My friend and I demolished it hahaha. Along with the drinks, the skewers went down so easily. I could see why it's called one of Yeongdeungpo's go-to yakitori spots. There was a subtle charcoal aroma throughout, and overall the menu paired really well with drinks.

Chicken skewers and shin ramyun risotto sold out: takoyaki instead

It was so good that we tried to order more — pork belly scallion skewers, chicken skewers, and shin ramyun risotto. Unfortunately, staff said the last two were sold out 😂 Really disappointing ㅠㅠ But I guess that just means they're popular dishes a lot of people order!

A plate of freshly ordered takoyaki

A bit disappointed, we ordered takoyaki instead haha.

The takoyaki came topped with a generous amount of bonito flakes and plenty of sauce, so it looked really appetizing. It came out freshly made and was super hot haha — I rushed and burned the roof of my mouth 😂 Definitely let it cool before diving in haha.

Crispy outside, moist inside — nice light pairing with drinks. The octopus pieces were a bit small, which felt slightly disappointing, but overall it was an easy, enjoyable bar snack.

Is Nani Byeolgwan worth it? Final verdict

Overall verdict

Visiting in person, I get why it's such a popular izakaya in Yeongdeungpo. Japanese-style interior, great atmosphere, watching the cooking from the counter seats, and a variety of skewer options — really solid place for a drink. If you're looking for an izakaya near Yeongdeungpo Station, this one's worth a visit.

Right across from Times Square, it's convenient to stop by after shopping or a movie, good for casual drinks with a friend, and the mood works well as a Yeongdeungpo date spot too. Next time I'd like to come a bit earlier so I can try the chicken skewers and shin ramyun risotto that were sold out haha. If you're looking for a good-atmosphere izakaya and tasty yakitori in Yeongdeungpo, give Nani Byeolgwan Yeongdeungpo Branch a try 😊
