Gopchang vs makchang vs daechang at Dangsan Station grill: Chodaechang
In short
Chodaechang Dangsan Station is a grilled beef offal restaurant on Dangsan-ro, near exit 2 of Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. Grilled beef gopchang (small intestine), seasoned makchang (abomasum) and seasoned beef daechang (large intestine) were ordered together so the plain and the seasoned cuts could be eaten in turn, with kimchi-mari guksu (chilled kimchi noodle soup) from a review event served in between. All three cuts tasted and chewed differently, so ordering the full set was the right call.

It especially seemed like a good spot to meet right after work near Dangsan Station, whether for a work dinner or drinks with friends. On days when you're craving gopchang with soju, this kind of place is always the first thing that comes to mind haha

Stepping inside, it had that typical gopchang-restaurant vibe — a comfortable atmosphere for a casual meal. Not too formal, more the kind of place where you sit with friends, grill meat, and chat. If you're looking for a Dangsan Station restaurant for dinner with a drink, this kind of atmosphere hit the spot.

You get exactly 3 side dishes.

Why order all three offal cuts at once?
Sitting down at the table, I looked over the menu and paused for a moment — there were quite a few types of gopchang to choose from. But since I wanted to try a variety of flavors that day, I ordered grilled beef gopchang, seasoned makchang, and beef daechang.

Grilled beef gopchang: the clean, nutty baseline
First up was the grilled beef gopchang. Gopchang really does look delicious the moment it's grilled to a golden brown 🤤

The grilled beef gopchang let you really taste that signature savory gopchang flavor. Grilled crisp on the outside and juicy inside, the nuttiness of gopchang really came through. I felt like anyone who loves gopchang should start with this basic menu item. Being beef gopchang in particular, the savory flavor felt rich when chewed, and it paired well as a drinking snack. If you were craving grilled gopchang while looking for a Dangsan Station restaurant, this was a solid, easy order.

Seasoned makchang and seasoned beef daechang: the salty-sweet pair
And the other things I ordered that day were the seasoned makchang and daechang. With the seasoning added, there was a salty-sweet flavor that was tasty on its own and also worked well as a drinking snack.

Daechang already has a strong nutty flavor to begin with, but eating it seasoned brought out a different kind of appeal. The golden-grilled beef daechang was coated in sauce, so each bite carried both the nuttiness and the savory depth of the seasoning.

The makchang's signature chewy texture combined with the seasoning made it great to alternate with the beef gopchang. Eating only gopchang can get a bit heavy after a while, but ordering the seasoned makchang alongside it let me switch things up mid-meal.

Kimchi-mari guksu from the review event
I also received kimchi-mari guksu (cold kimchi noodle soup) through a review event and ate it alongside everything 😋 After eating rich, savory dishes like the grilled beef gopchang, seasoned makchang, and seasoned beef daechang, having the kimchi-mari guksu in between paired really well. The cool broth combined with the tangy kimchi flavor was great to eat alongside the offal.
