Hapjeong bossam dinner with dried radish kimchi wraps: Pyeongidambaek

In short

Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch is a Korean restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, about 427m from Mangwon Station Exit 1, serving bossam suyuk (boiled pork) and kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). On a weekday evening at 5pm with a friend, the medium bossam suyuk came to 42,000 won, and the best bite was napa cabbage wrapped around pork with dried radish kimchi on top. With mild, clean flavors and no harsh seasoning, Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch suits a slow dinner over a glass of soju.

Where to eat bossam in Hapjeong: Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch

I was wandering around Hapjeong looking for dinner with a friend and craving bossam, and that's how I ended up at Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch (평이담백 뼈칼국수 본점). It's not easy to find a place around Hapjeong that does bossam or suchuk (boiled pork) alongside kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), but this place has a solid menu lineup, so it's a good spot for anyone who loves Korean food.

What is the restaurant like at 5pm on a weekday?

We visited Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch around 5pm on a weekday. Since it was before the dinner rush really kicked in, tables were pretty spacious when we first walked in. But as we ate, customers started trickling in one by one, and by the time we left it was quite bustling. The interior is clean and comfortable, so it was a good spot to chat with a friend over a meal.

What comes with the medium bossam suyuk (42,000 won)?

That day we ordered the medium bossam suchuk for ₩42,000.

The bossam suchuk arrived along with the side dishes.

Alongside the meat came cabbage leaves for wraps, garlic, ssamjang (thick dipping sauce), and kimchi.

The dried radish kimchi that stood out most

Personally, what stood out most that day was the radish-style kimchi served alongside. It had a slightly sweet, savory flavor, and it paired with the bossam way better than I expected.

How thick is the pork, and how does it taste?

The bossam suchuk had a good thickness too.

Bossam suchuk meat with a good thickness

Not so thin that it felt lacking, but not so thick and dry either — just the right size to pile onto a wrap.

A plate of mild, clean-flavored bossam suchuk

Overall it was mild and clean without harsh seasoning, so it went even better with the kimchi, garlic, and ssamjang on the side.

The best combination: cabbage wrap, pork and radish kimchi

The best bite at Pyeongidambaek Ppyeo Kalguksu Main Branch was a cabbage wrap with a piece of meat and radish kimchi tucked in together. My friend and I were chatting away, and before we knew it the plate was nearly empty haha.

A great spot if you're craving bossam or suchuk in Hapjeong and want to grab dinner with soju and a friend! If you're looking for somewhere to eat around Hongdae and want something a bit quieter and calmer, this is worth a visit too. Personally, the bossam + cabbage wrap + radish kimchi combo was my favorite. If you're hunting for a good bossam or suchuk restaurant in Hapjeong, this one's worth checking out 😊
