My kids have really gotten into sushi lately... you know?

So we went out for a family meal at Sushi Doku The Songdo, a sushi restaurant I really love~

What's great here is that they have a kids' menu, and the sushi sets are neat and well put together — but most of all, the sushi is just so delicious...!

Storefront before the weekend 11am opening

We hurried to arrive right at the weekend 11am opening, and to my surprise, even that early there were quite a few people already waiting before opening, just like me.

Entrance to Sushi Doku The Songdo on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall

I thought, no wonder this place is a well-known Songdo, Incheon spot. Let me leave a detailed review of our satisfying family meal :)

Inside Sushi Doku The Songdo: curtained tables that work with kids

Walking into Sushi Doku The Songdo, the distinctive black-and-wood interior gave off a clean, neat atmosphere!

Nicely, curtained partitions were set up at each table throughout the spacious restaurant, which made it easy to eat comfortably.

When dining out with kids like us, being too exposed can make you a bit self-conscious, but the separated feel made it perfectly comfortable to eat ~

On one side there was warm plum tea available self-serve, great for settling your stomach before or after the meal!

Kiosk ordering at Sushi Doku The Songdo: the no-wasabi option and what we paid

Ordering was simple, done through the kiosk at the table!

Each menu item let you carefully choose options, which was really convenient.

Since we'd be eating with the kids, we selected the 'no wasabi' option -

  • Premium sushi set: ₩25,900 (no wasabi)
  • Salmon sushi set: ₩26,900 (no wasabi)
  • Kids' set meal: ₩9,800 (ordered 2)

When the sets arrived, beautifully arranged on trays, it was really a satisfying sight to see...★

Let me review each menu item!

Salmon sushi set, 26,900 won: salmon thick enough to wrap the rice

The salmon sushi set came out first, and seeing the salmon laid on the wooden cutting board, my jaw genuinely dropped ㅠㅠ!!

The slices were so long and thick that they wrapped completely around the rice and then some — no exaggeration, I thought 'this one slice of salmon could make two pieces of sushi easily,' it was that generous!

The glossy, savory salmon melted in my mouth — truly a moving flavor...

They also gave plenty of onions with the tartar sauce that goes well on top, which was such a nice touch.

This is also included with the premium sushi set — the Japanese-style steamed egg (chawanmushi) was so soft and refined I actually wondered how they made it.

The salad, good to eat before the meal, wasn't drenched in an overly sweet sauce — it was exactly the right amount to whet your appetite, which I really liked!

The udon had a clownfish-shaped fish cake in it, which delighted the kids — and the udon portion was a bit bigger than the usual small udon that comes with sushi sets :)

So even a big eater like me was satisfied and full ~

Premium sushi set, 25,900 won: the one to order on a first visit

The premium sushi set that came together with it was also packed full!

Assorted sushi from the premium sushi set

It was great being able to try a variety — fresh white fish, tuna, sweet shrimp, snow crab meat, and even smoky, savory grilled eel.

Sushi topped with white fish, tuna, and eel

Overall, every piece of sushi had absolutely no fishy taste and was fresh, so we all devoured it in a storm ㅋㅋㅋ

Usually with a mixed set like this, there's a feeling that one or two pieces are just thrown in to bulk it up, but Sushi Doku's premium sushi set had every single piece be high-quality and delicious 🩵

Picking up a piece of sushi from the premium set

So if it's your first time and you don't know what to order, I strongly recommend just getting the premium sushi set.

Along with the set came moist Japanese-style steamed egg (chawanmushi), a refreshing pre-meal salad, crispy shrimp tempura and karaage, and hot udon — we really ate a hearty meal.

The noodles were springy and the broth was rich, making it the perfect thing to pair with the sushi ~

What comes with the 9,800 won kids' set meal?

And then the kids' set meal we ordered for the children!

Kids' set meal served on character tableware

It came generously packed with kid favorites like egg sushi, fried tofu sushi (inari), sweet shrimp sushi, plus crispy pork cutlet (donkatsu), cute smiley-face fries, and shrimp tempura.

For under 10,000 won, I was surprised at how generous the portion was . . 🫢

Thanks to the cute character tableware they gave, our kids happily cleaned their plates.

It really felt like a great place for a family meal with kids -
