Hey Jinny is a Euljiro bar that's great for enjoying a quiet drink. I found this place while looking for somewhere relaxed to have a light drink and chat with a friend. 👀 As someone who loves Western and Chinese food, I was really excited that they serve fusion Western dishes. 🤭 So let's get straight into my review of 'Hey Jinny,' a Euljiro bar!🍷

What we ordered at Hey Jinny: house wine, shrimp oil pasta, eoyanggaji

At Hey Jinny we ordered house white and red wine at ₩10,000 each, Osaka niboshi shrimp oil pasta for ₩21,000, and eoyanggaji for ₩18,000. Our food came out one by one while we were chatting away over sips of wine that arrived right away. 🍷

Glasses of Hey Jinny's house white and red wine

1) House white wine — 10,000 won

It was a sweet wine with a bit of tannin, overall fresh and light. Not sparkling, but it cleaned up the palate nicely when paired with rich food, so it went well with the meal. 🤭

2) House red wine — 10,000 won

The red wine was also on the sweeter side, a house wine with a light body that wasn't heavy. Easy to sip without any pressure!🍷

3) Osaka niboshi shrimp oil pasta — 21,000 won / highly recommended ⭐

A plate of Osaka niboshi shrimp oil pasta

This was one of the dishes I was most looking forward to. 🍝 The mantecatura (emulsifying technique) was really well done, so the flavor of the white pollock roe spread all through my mouth.

There was also a subtle wrap of the sea aroma and savoriness coming from the sakura shrimp and anchovies.

On top of that, spicy chili and pepper are added, which cut through the typical richness of an oil pasta. Eating it with the garlic and chewy raw-style shrimp on top was especially delicious. 🤭

4) Eoyanggaji (fish-fragrant eggplant) — 18,000 won / highly recommended ⭐

A generous portion of Hey Jinny's eoyanggaji

Personally, this was a dish I liked because the portion in real life was bigger than in the menu photo. The owner should really update that photo 🥹👀

The soft texture of the eggplant paired well with the crispy texture of the fried coating. Even my companion, who normally dislikes the texture of eggplant, ended up eating it quite happily. 🤭

Cross-section of eoyanggaji showing the sauce

Even after soaking up the fish-fragrant sauce, the fried coating stayed crispy instead of going soggy, which I liked. The sauce was sweet like a chili sauce with a slight kick, so it paired really well with the fried eggplant.

It's exactly the kind of thing you want as a drinking snack! I'd personally recommend pairing it with beer. 🍺

Final verdict: who is Hey Jinny in Euljiro best for?

Overall, Hey Jinny's dishes are full of flavor, so they really paired well with wine or beer. 🍷🍺 Most of all, I liked that unlike Euljiro's usual noisy bars, you can enjoy a casual drink and dinner in a quiet, calm atmosphere.

  • ✔️ Guys looking for a Western-style date or blind date spot in Euljiro
  • ✔️ Anyone looking for a wine bar in Euljiro to visit with female friends
  • ✔️ Office workers who want a casual drink and dinner in a place that isn't loud

That's who I'd recommend this place to. 👍 If you want to enjoy good food and drinks while chatting comfortably, it's a place worth visiting at least once. 🤭
