My partner and I met up early last weekend to go out for the day. As the saying goes, "even Geumgangsan looks better after a meal," so we decided to fill our stomachs first 😊

It was morning, so not many places were open — but then we found out a newly opened gukbap (rice and soup) place near Seonyudo Station runs 24 hours!! So we rushed straight over (●'◡'●)

This is the CatchTable waitlist device at the entrance. I have a feeling this place gets packed during peak hours (just a hunch).

Group seating available, order at the kiosk

Even though it was a bit early, plenty of customers were already eating. This gukbap place near Seonyudo Station has separate group seating too, so it seems like a good option for group lunches in Yeongdeungpo or around Seonyudo Station.

Kiosk screen showing single dishes and set menus

You order through the kiosk! There are single gukbap dishes as well as set menus that come with tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties) and buckwheat crepes, so it seemed like a good spot to try a bit of everything.

Side dishes, self-serve bar, and free pyeonbaek sundae stew

The basic side dishes that go well with gukbap were kimchi, seokbakji (radish kimchi), and cheongyang chili peppers.

There's also a self-serve bar with pickled chives, onion, and garlic, so keep that in mind.

Free pyeonbaek sundae stew station

This gukbap place near Seonyudo Station gives out pyeonbaek sundae (blood sausage) stew for free — for real!!!! 😍 There's also a special sauce next to it, and dipping the sundae in it is seriously delicious :)

Every table also has salted shrimp, chili paste, perilla seeds, salt, and other seasonings, so you can season it to your taste!

The "jackpot bowl" event and how to eat it best

Since it's a newly opened gukbap place near Seonyudo Station, they're running a little event too. If your earthenware bowl has "Winner" written on it, the meal is free — so obviously I felt like I had to finish every last drop haha

What we ordered and the prices

Here's what we ordered.

  • ✔️ +₩1,000 to switch to spicy

Deundeun Pork Gukbap (plain)

This is the Deundeun Pork Gukbap my partner ordered. The milky broth, generous toppings, and scattered green onions made for a beautiful bowl.

Plain Deundeun Pork Gukbap with milky broth and green onion

It was a touch bland, so we added salted shrimp and perilla powder. Personally, I found the plain version cleaner-tasting than the spicy one, so if you're on the fence, I'd recommend going plain!

Spicy Pork Gukbap

This is the spicy pork gukbap I ordered. It's loaded with lean meat and offal.

Following the instructions for enjoying the spicy gukbap, I added pepper, salted shrimp, and perilla powder. It was tasty plain too, but when the instructions are right there, how could I not follow them 😆

There was zero gamey smell, and the meat was so tender. The moment I took a sip of the broth, I actually considered ordering a green bottle of soju haha. That's how spicy and refreshing it was.

Tteokgalbi and steamed pork included with the set

These are the tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties) and steamed pork included with the Signature Deundeun Set. The tteokgalbi was sweet — seemed like a great menu item for kids to enjoy.

Take a bite of the tender steamed pork topped with salty chive salad, and you'll want to applaud automatically. I've never had steamed pork this moist and soft before... ❤️
