This time I visited Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch, a ring workshop in Uijeongbu, to make a special memory with my mom. I always thought ring-making studios were more of a couple thing, but it turns out they're also great for friends or family, so my mom and I decided to make matching family rings 💕

Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch is on Haengbok-ro in Uijeongbu, on the 5th floor of the McDonald's building, so it wasn't hard to find at all. It's right there as soon as you come out of Exit 5-3 of Uijeongbu Station's underground shopping arcade.

A private room for just mom and me

What I loved most was being able to make the rings comfortably in a private room. Having our own space made everything feel so relaxed.

Unlike a typical ring studio where you're in a shared space with other people, just quickly knocking out a ring and leaving, my mom and I got to sit together, take our time picking out a design, and chat along the way. That whole process and time together felt really precious.

It was such a hot day, and they brought us ice water the moment we arrived — that was the best. Little touches like that just make you happy haha

Ring sizing and choosing a design

Before we really got started, they measured our finger sizes first, and once we picked a size, a staff member came over and carefully double-checked that each ring size fit our fingers correctly.

Next, we picked out the ring design we wanted. There were so many designs, and while they're categorized into men's and women's rings, you can actually choose any design regardless of gender.

There were so many more design options than I expected, so my mom and I spent a long time browsing. There were plenty of designs that would work great not just as couple rings, but as friendship rings between friends or matching family rings. If it's pretty, it wins!!

The design my mom and I chose for our family rings was Marae! I never really got the appeal of twist designs before, but seeing the sample in person completely changed my mind. The twisted line looked sleek, and it felt like it would really stand out on the hand, so we both went with the same twist design 👍🏻

How does making a ring at Ring Plus actually work?

Since we had to make the rings ourselves, I was a little worried the result might look rough, but they guided us carefully through every step, and with the finishing touch from an expert at the end, I was really happy with how the rings turned out.

You use tools to smooth and grind the surface of the ring from left to right, and once you finish a step, you press a bell and a staff member comes to check it, so there's nothing to worry about.

My mom and I started off making rings for each other, and partway through, they took a Polaroid photo for us and even engraved our names as part of a Naver event. The staff were so kind too, which made the whole process feel fun and pressure-free.

Making a ring is fun on its own, but sitting across from my mom and making them together, chatting the whole time, ended up being the part I'll remember most.

In the final step, they sand the ring down with a hand-held machine, and that's it — the part we can do ourselves is done!

Same-day pickup, Polaroid photo and boxed packaging

After we finished our part, we went out to grab a meal while we waited, and got a call saying the rings were ready in under an hour — I was surprised it was finished so quickly. When we went back to pick them up, they didn't just hand over the rings — they packaged them in a pretty box, complete with the Polaroid photo inside, so it felt like receiving a gift.

I loved that it wasn't just about making a ring — you get to take home a memory of the day too.
