My cousin is about to ship out again soon, so I wanted to do something meaningful together with her 😙 And that something was... ring making!! Among the ring workshops in Uijeongbu, Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch caught my eye, and after looking it up I knew this was the place, so I booked right away 😁 So let's get right into the review of Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch, a ring workshop in Uijeongbu — first, the basic info!

Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch, a ring workshop in Uijeongbu, is just a 1-minute walk from Exit 5-3 of the Uijeongbu Station underground shopping mall, so the access is really good~

Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch is on the 5th floor of the McDonald's building right in the middle of Rodeo Street~ McDonald's stands out so much that it was easy to find 😊

Head to the side and you'll see the Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch banner~

There's also a Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch sign at the entrance where the banner is~ You can take the McDonald's elevator down to the 3rd floor and walk up the stairs, or just go straight in through this entrance and climb the stairs all the way up~

Right around when the climb starts to feel tiring, the entrance to Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch appears~ It felt clean and tidy right from the entrance ☺️

Inside the Ring Plus workshop: private rooms and photo zone

Inside, Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch is made up of a photo zone near the entrance, a full-length mirror, and a private room. Looking back toward the entrance once you step in, this is the view~ There's so much to see right from the entrance that it naturally made me turn around and look 🤭

There's a photo zone where the finished ring will look good in a photo no matter where you set it~

There's also a pretty full-length mirror, which looks great for mirror selfies 📸

Now it's time to properly look around the space~ Sitting here with the Ring Plus Uijeongbu logo in frame would probably make for a nice photo too 😄 The counter is clean and neat as well~

This is what the overall workshop looks like~ Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch is made up of private rooms, so you get your own space for a special time together 😆 There's a room big enough for four, so it looks good for a group of friends, and for couples it'd be great for a double date~

Once inside, you put on the apron hanging on the wall~ The moment my cousin and I put on these aprons, we both suddenly felt like art students, so we did a little bit of art-student role play for a minute 🤣

We each sat down and looked over everything at our seats~ Just looking at the tools felt professional, which was exciting and made us nervous 🫢 But since we had no idea how to use any of it yet, we just looked for now 😁

Wet wipes and a charger were also provided at the table~

There's also a bell attached to the wall of the desk — press it whenever you need the teacher's help~ They're also running a Polaroid photo event, so if there's a shot you want to capture, mention it in advance~

Measuring your ring size and choosing a design: what does the class cost?

The one-day class price at Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch is ₩75,000–145,000, and the price already includes VAT and the stone. Around the time we finished looking around, the teacher came over and gave us a proper explanation~ You just fill in the marked spots on the paper~

You measure your ring size with this~ You try it on one finger at a time until you find the right fit, and if you're unsure, you can just ask the teacher and they'll help you find the right size 😙

Once you decide on the ring size, they bring out samples so you can see and choose the ring design yourself~

From simple designs to unique ones, there were so many options that it was genuinely hard to decide which one to pick 🤔

Every single one was full of character and pretty, so they looked great not just for couple rings but for friendship rings too 🥹

They also show you the price list, and since it's a transparent price that already includes VAT and the stone, it felt more trustworthy~

Like buying clothes, looking at something and actually trying it on feel different, so we tried on a bunch of designs and picked the ones we liked~ It was nice that we could freely talk about our preferred designs in our separated space 😁 I picked the Aero F (women's) glossy, and my cousin picked the Axis M (men's) glossy~ My cousin also added a Chinese character engraving~ Engraving normally costs ₩10,000 extra, but it was free thanks to a Naver review event 😊

How the ring-making class works, from flat filing to drill polishing

The ring-making process at Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch goes flat file → half-round file → sandpaper → drill polishing, in that order. After picking the design, you press the bell and tell the teacher, and they bring out the ring you chose~ This is where it really starts — at first there's no stone yet and the ring is still rough~ You only file the parts marked with the felt-tip pen, and since the teacher demonstrated and explained kindly, it wasn't too difficult 😊 Press the bell each time you finish a step 🛎️

Step 1: filing the silver band until it starts to shine

The first step in ring making is holding the flat file and moving it back and forth in long strokes until it starts to shine~ If you file too hard on one side or press too hard, the shape can get distorted or too thin, so it's important to file as evenly as possible~ Also, it's best not to touch the spot where the stone will sit, so it's important not to go past the part marked with the felt-tip pen~

Step 2: half-round file and sandpaper

The next step is smoothing it with the half-round file~ First you smooth the top surface with the half-round file~

Then second, you sand it with sandpaper~ It was amazing watching it get shinier and shinier the more we worked on it 😮 And while making them, my cousin and I compared each other's rings and chatted, which made it even more fun and made us more attached to our rings 🥰 Each room also had a phone stand, so we had fun shooting a timelapse while we worked 😆

Step 3: polishing with the foot-pedal drill

Now it's time to polish the whole ring~ Step on the pedal on the floor, and a tool like a nail drill spins up with a whir 😙

You use this to polish both the inside and outside for shine ✨ If you hold it in one spot too long it can dent, and going too hard on the inside can make it too thin and enlarge the ring, so it's important to work evenly here too~ Being careful the whole time, I somehow felt like a professional, and it was genuinely fun 😆

Finally, they swapped the drill tip for a thinner one~ This also spins when you step on the pedal~ Smoothing the inside and outside with this finishes the ring-making 🤗 You wipe your hands with a wet wipe and leave everything, including the ring, where it is as you walk out~

How long it takes and what the finished silver 925 rings look like

The hands-on part at Ring Plus Uijeongbu Branch took about an hour, and after that the teacher's professional finishing work takes about another hour, so we decided to go hang out nearby~

About an hour later, we got a call that the rings were done and went back~ As soon as we arrived, they handed us the finished rings along with a Polaroid photo, and the moment I saw them, I couldn't help but gasp — they were so pretty 🫢

The shine was totally different from what we made ourselves 🤣 It really turned into a completely different ring once it went through the expert's hands 🤭
