Aewol noodle restaurant with stroller space and mala noodles: Handam

While traveling around Jeju, I heard there was a pork noodle place near Handam Beach, close to the Aewol café street, with an actual ocean view — so I went to check it out. Here's my review of Handam Guksu, an Aewol pork noodle restaurant.

Handam Guksu Gwakji Aewol Branch: menu and opening hours

Handam Guksu has a surprisingly wide range of pork noodle (gogi-guksu) dishes — they even have a mala version! It's a pork noodle restaurant, but the menu variety makes it a good spot for groups too.

Open daily from 10:00 to 20:30. Break time is 15:30–17:30, and last order is at 19:50 — worth keeping in mind.

Where to park at Handam Guksu in Aewol

You can park in the lot right in front of the restaurant, which fits about 4 cars.

If there's no space, you can use the empty lot next to Handam Guksu, the Landy's Donuts parking lot, or the Handam Coastal Trail parking lot. There's an ocean view behind the parking lot too.

Ocean-view window seats: can you bring a baby to Handam Guksu?

From your seat, the floor-to-ceiling windows show the ocean on every side.

The glass is spotless, so the view outside is beautifully clear.

The seating is mostly 4-person tables, spacious enough to fit a stroller, which I loved. It's not a cramped, old-school spot at all — it's clean, bright, and really good for coming with a baby.

Being a well-known spot, even celebrities have visited. The Quiett?! 🤟

The self-serve bar is neatly set up, and there's kids' tableware and baby chairs available too — I felt this was a great place to bring a baby. In fact, there were lots of families with babies dining there.

Side dishes are self-serve. There's even a tray provided so you don't have to carry the side dishes one by one — a nice touch.

Ordering dongchimi bibim noodles, bone-broth pork noodles and tteokgalbi

You order via the tablet attached to your table. We ordered dongchimi (radish water kimchi) bibim noodles, bone-broth pork noodles, handmade pork tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties), and Pepsi Zero haha.

Dongchimi bibim noodles: pour in all the broth for a sashimi-noodle feel

For the dongchimi bibim noodles, the dongchimi broth comes separately, and you pour it in little by little as you mix the noodles. The icy dongchimi with the little slush bits floating in it is amazing. My recommendation: pour in all the broth and eat it like sashimi noodles (hoe-guksu)! The trick is tearing the meat into small pieces and eating it with the bean sprouts.

Handmade pork tteokgalbi, best shared at the table

The handmade tteokgalbi has just the right sweetness and is finely minced, so it seems easy for babies to eat too. It went really well with the bibim noodles. If you're ordering the dongchimi bibim noodles, I'd recommend getting this to share.

How the bone-broth pork noodle soup tastes

A handy stop on the way to the Aewol café street

You can add kimchi, peppers, and other side dishes from the self-serve bar. I mixed it all up and had a really satisfying meal. Recommended if you're looking for a pork noodle restaurant near Handam Beach on the Aewol café street. And since you can just walk to the café street after eating, the location is great.
