Peking duck with single-sheet pancakes in Suwon: Mirim Yangjang

Do you like Peking duck? I love it, and when I heard a Peking duck spot opened at Time Villas in Suwon, I kept telling myself I'd go — and finally made it happen!

Every time I walked by and saw the ducks hanging there, it kind of startled me — I'm guessing it's some kind of dry-aging process.

Where Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon is, and its hours

Mirim Yangjang is on the 3rd floor of Time Villas, open daily 10:30–22:00, and you can use the Time Villas parking lot. If you're walking, Time Villas connects directly to Suwon Station (use Exit 3); if you're driving, just search 'Time Villas' and use the parking lot there.

The interior has that full-on Chinese-restaurant vibe. I saw a lot of families there! There are baby chairs too, so it's no problem to bring a little one along.

The table spacing is wide and the place is clean. Ordering is by QR code, and soy sauce and vinegar are set on the table by default.

What comes in the 59,000-won Peking duck set

Mirim Yangjang's Peking duck set is ₩59,000 for half a Peking duck, two mains (choice of jjamppong or fried rice), and one drink. If both people choose jjamppong, there's a ₩2,000 surcharge — just so you know!

Here's the menu ^_^ There are so many categories — sets, mains, dishes — that I hesitated a bit, but the set menu is really good value, and it seemed perfect for coming with family. I genuinely love Peking duck, and it's not exactly an everyday dish, right?! When the chance comes, you can't pass it up.

Once you order, the duck hangs there like this, and it looks like they pop it into a stove or furnace next to it to prepare it.

Is half a Peking duck enough for two people?

You get scallion strips, cucumber, and sauce set as basics, then half a Peking duck comes out!!!!! It might look like a small portion, but once you finish it you're completely full. The duck is layered thin, so the amount is nowhere near small!! I think scallions and the skin are what really matter for Peking duck, and the duck skin here was very thin and crispy, so the texture was great.

Everything came out! The serving speed was fast and everything arrived at once, which made for a nice meal. Peking duck is usually really expensive, so being completely full and satisfied for ₩59,000 between two people feels like great value.

Honestly, since it's known as a Peking duck spot, I didn't expect much from the mains... But one bite in, my husband and I were both stunned The mains and the other dishes were also ridiculously good.

Single-sheet pancakes that keep your hands clean

Mirim Yangjang's pancakes come separated one sheet at a time, so you can wrap without getting your hands messy. They're really chewy, and of course the vegetables are fresh — goes without saying.

And here's the truly amazing part — since the pancakes are separated one sheet at a time, you can wrap without getting your hands dirty, and as someone who hates having stuff stuck to my hands, I was extremely satisfied You absolutely have to try this, please.

You wrap it like this. For Peking duck, the scallion strips are the KEY/POINT.

The duck isn't dry at all — it's chewy and moist and just amazing. I'm carefully wrapping each little bite in a pancake.

How the jjamppong and fried rice in the set taste

The jjamppong had thin noodles. It wasn't an artificially made spicy flavor but a spicy-sweet jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) — I can confidently say it was delicious.

The fried rice comes topped with a fried egg and jjajang (black bean sauce). It's sweet, and the combo of the jjajang and sauce is amazing. The jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) is probably 100% delicious too, I'd bet.

Pancakes and vegetables get free refills. Seriously the best, ㅠ We're already planning to come back After finishing everything we were so full, now I'm wondering about the set for three... This Peking duck set...

Peking duck near Suwon Station: the verdict on Mirim Yangjang

Mirim Yangjang is inside Time Villas, connected to Suwon Station, so it's a great spot to meet friends, and parking is easy even if you drive. On the way out I noticed what looked like info about the owner having a background at The Shilla Hotel. The main branch is apparently in Busan, so being able to eat this near Suwon Station is such a good thing.

It's a mall that's cool in summer and warm in winter, and on top of that the food was perfect too.. A repeat visit is a must ^_^ Five stars, no question!! Next time I go, I think I'll order the Peking duck set again!! Mirim Yangjang left us that satisfied — I recommend it to all of you too!!
