Suwon Station Japanese restaurant with parking perks: Jojo AK Plaza

In short

Jojo AK Plaza Suwon is a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant in the basement food hall of AK Plaza at Suwon Station, Gyeonggi. The writer took a bar seat, watched the griddle cooking and ordered the yakisoba set, which pairs basic yakisoba with five mentaiko gyoza for 18,500 won, with the tobiko mayo sauce the standout. Jojo AK Plaza Suwon is an easy, filling solo meal, and AK Plaza gives 1 hour of free parking for purchases of 10,000 to 30,000 won.

Inside Jojo AK Plaza Suwon: bar seats made for eating alone

Atmosphere of Jojo's seating inside the AK food hall

The store is surrounded by bar tables. When I visited, quite a few people were eating alone. Right behind is a 4-person food hall table area too, so groups can dine comfortably.

4-person food hall seating and nearby tray-return station

There's a return-tray station nearby too, so you can eat comfortably and leave. Since I sat at the bar seats in front of the store, I could watch the cooking process, which was fun to watch, haha.

There's a variety of menu options including sets! Yakisoba and okonomiyaki are the main menu items. Just pick based on the toppings you want, haha.

What the yakisoba set at Jojo AK Plaza Suwon includes

I chose the yakisoba set, one of the best sets.

Jojo Yakisoba Set (₩18,000): Basic yakisoba + mentaiko gyoza

Since it's a basic yakisoba and mentaiko gyoza set, it was perfectly portioned for a solo meal. Ordering the set is ₩1,000 cheaper than ordering each separately, haha.

Yakisoba set

The yakisoba set consists of basic yakisoba with cabbage and pork, and mentaiko gyoza (pollock roe dumplings) dipped in a mayo sauce loaded with tobiko (flying fish roe). The portion is really generous, right?

Basic yakisoba noodles stir-fried on the teppan

Maybe because the noodles were stir-fried on the teppan, they had a chewy, springy texture and a smoky, charred aroma. The sauce soaked in well, and the cabbage gave it a nice texture too.

Yakisoba with pork and squid

The basic yakisoba set includes pork and squid. Both were tender and went well together with the noodles!

Mentaiko gyoza and the tobiko mayo sauce

The mentaiko gyoza included in the set can also be ordered separately! It came with 5 pieces, so the portion was generous.

The mentaiko gyoza had a hearty, well-packed filling, full of mentaiko, so you could really taste the roe. The outside was crispy and the inside was moist — truly a delicious gyoza, haha.

Mentaiko gyoza dipped in tobiko mayo sauce

Dipping it generously in the tobiko mayo sauce that comes alongside makes it even more delicious. They really put in a lot of tobiko! I also tried it with the yakisoba, and it went really, really well together. This sauce felt like Jojo's signature touch ^_^

Is Jojo worth it for a solo meal at Suwon Station?

A yakisoba set meal at Jojo AK Plaza Suwon

If you ever find yourself eating alone near Suwon Station, I recommend "Jojo" AK Plaza. The bar (dachi) seating makes it comfortable to eat solo. Since it's made fresh on the teppan right when you order, I could enjoy warm yakisoba with a nice charred aroma. With the mentaiko gyoza included in the set, it was a really satisfying, filling meal. If you're looking for a Japanese restaurant among Suwon Station eateries, give "Jojo" AK Plaza a try ^_^
