On days like these — cool and especially rainy — I start craving a hot bowl of gukbap (soup with rice) 🌧️ This time I went to Gukbabi-ga Bucheon Main Branch, which I found while searching for good restaurants in Bucheon. True to its name, the menu centers on gukbap, with plenty of hearty meal options 😀

The exterior of Gukbabi-ga Bucheon Main Branch is clean and easy to spot.
The big signboard even carries the phrase "a bowl made with sincerity," which caught my eye. It really felt like a specialty restaurant 👍🏻👍🏻
Near the entrance there were menu photos and food pictures, so it was easy to decide what to order before going in 😀
Inside, it was packed — hard to find an empty seat. Between diners and the constant coming and going of delivery/takeout riders, it really felt like a famous Bucheon restaurant 👍🏻👍🏻
A big sign on the wall read, "Our gukbap is a tonic simmered daily from herbal ingredients and beef bones," which really showed the sincerity and care put into the food 🤍 There's also a self-serve bar set up.

At the Gukbabi-ga Bucheon Main Branch self-serve bar, you can help yourself to unlimited rice and sundae (Korean blood sausage). The warm rice cooker was full of chapssal sundae, ready to be scooped up as much as you like 👍🏻👍🏻
Here's the fun part!! What a great deal! Anyone who loves sundae will be thrilled 🤎 I saw students piling their bowls high with sundae — seemed like a great filling meal for those who work out too, haha.
Gukbabi-ga menu and what the three of us ordered
From gukbap varieties to specialty noodle dishes, boiled pork platters, and hot pots, the menu is packed and varied. We ordered and tried the spicy sundae gukbap, pork gukbap, and gogi guksu 😋
Spicy and crunchy geotjeori kimchi (fresh, unfermented kimchi), green chili peppers, onion, and ssamjang (spicy dipping sauce) came out with warm, chewy chapssal sundae as a basic side.
A nice thing to snack on while waiting for the gukbap 😋
🍲 Spicy sundae gukbap (eolkeun sundae gukbap)
The spicy sundae gukbap arrived piping hot in a stone bowl, topped with scallions and garnish — appetizing from the first look.
The broth was rich and savory, and pouring rice into it made for a hearty, filling bowl.
I added a generous handful of chives 🌿 plus salted shrimp and perilla seed powder, mixed it all together, and enjoyed 😋 The broth turned even more savory and rich after that! 🤎
There was plenty of sundae and meat in the bowl too. Eaten with rice, it was a really filling meal.
🍚 Pork gukbap (dwaeji gukbap)
The pork gukbap also came out with a milky, warm broth 🤍
Adding scallions brings a clean finish, and depending on your taste, onion or kimchi make it even tastier.
Personally, I thought this menu is a comfortable pick for people who like clean, savory broths.
🍜 Gogi guksu (meat noodle soup)
Gogi guksu has a totally different feel from gukbap, so it was great to order and share alongside the others. With meat in the warm broth, even a single bowl of noodles was quite filling.
When gukbap alone feels like it's not enough variety, I'd recommend ordering gogi guksu alongside it 😀 We ate really well 😋
