Icheon pollock stew restaurant with hairtail braise for two: Seonghone
In short
Seonghone Wang Kodari Dongtaetang, Icheon Seolseong Branch is a pollock stew and kodari (semi-dried pollock) braise restaurant on Seolga-ro in Seolseong-myeon, Icheon, Gyeonggi. Two diners visited on a Sunday afternoon and ordered one serving of mixed pollock stew, two servings of hairtail braise and the volcano-eruption cheese egg custard, and both the pollock and the hairtail came in generous sizes. Because Seonghone Wang Kodari Dongtaetang takes single-serving orders, it is an easy place to share several dishes between two people.

Today I'm introducing an Icheon, Gyeonggi restaurant — "Seonghone Wang Kodari Dongtaetang, Icheon Seolseong Branch" :)

The sign and menu board: from haesintang (seafood ginseng soup) to kodari braise
Looking at the outside signs at Seonghone Wang Kodari Dongtaetang, Icheon Seolseong Branch, there was an overwhelming variety — haesintang (seafood tonic soup), flower octopus kodari braise, abalone seafood kodari braise, dried radish greens kodari braise, and more..!

And also! This is a place that's been featured on KBS Saengsaeng Jeongbo and SBS Live Today..! 🤭

I brought the menu board :) From meal dishes to main dishes to special dishes, there was really something to pick for every taste!

A 10-minute Sunday wait and the five side dishes
We visited around noon on a Sunday, and after about a 10-minute wait we were seated! Once seated, soy sauce, a sauce dish, and water cups were already set on the table.

And after ordering, the side dishes appeared!! 👍🏻 Stir-fried fish cake, seasoned bean sprouts, salted squid, napa cabbage kimchi, and salad — 5 side dishes that tasted just like homemade food!! Especially the stir-fried fish cake — the fish cake pieces were so plump that I refilled it several times...! 🔥

Mixed pollock stew ×1, hairtail braise ×2, volcano-eruption cheese egg custard

Can you order the mixed pollock stew for one person?
First up is the mixed pollock stew! There were two of us, but since we also ordered other dishes, we got only one serving of the pollock stew (being able to order just one serving is 👍🏻).

The mixed pollock stew had minari (water celery), bean sprouts and assorted vegetables, plus roe, milt, and pollock all mixed together :)

First off, the pollock size was insane..! There were about 3 chunks of pollock in there — is this really one serving? Hahaha 💛

And such huge roe and milt! I ate it up happily with zero fishy taste haha (roe and milt are also available as an add-on menu, so if you like them you might want to add extra!)
Hairtail braise for two: thick fillets that lift off the bone
Next up, hairtail braise for two! This is exactly why we only ordered one serving of the pollock stew! We debated between mackerel braise and kodari braise, but today we went with the hairtail braise ㅠㅠ 💛

The hairtail, tofu, and vegetables come out well-braised, ready to eat right away :)

Just look at the size of this hairtail..! Hahahahaha usually hairtail is half bone, but what on earth is this here 🥹

Just gliding a spoon through it and the flesh comes off in these big chunks! The meat is so plump it's a real pleasure to eat ✨🔥

Volcano-eruption cheese egg custard as the side dish choice
Next up, the volcano-eruption cheese egg custard ✨

Just like its name, it came out looking like it was about to erupt and spill over, hahahahaha 🔥 Piled high with cheese on top, it was the best side dish choice!

It honestly felt like this cheese egg custard alone could polish off a whole bowl of rice haha

Popcorn on the way out, plus pollock stew shipped to your door
On top of everything, there was popcorn to freshen your mouth on the way out, and I found out that the pollock stew from this Icheon, Gyeonggi restaurant — "Seonghone Wang Kodari Dongtaetang, Icheon Seolseong Branch" — can be ordered online and shipped anywhere in the country!! Delivery is great and all, but of course freshly made food still tastes best!! So if you're looking for a great restaurant in Icheon, Gyeonggi, I recommend "Seonghone Wang Kodari Dongtaetang, Icheon Seolseong Branch" .. 🙇🏻♀️🔥 Next time we visit, I'll definitely be trying the kodari braise..!💛
