Chuncheon café with high ceilings and dark chocolate latte: Hoot

Was trying to figure out where to go after eating in Chuncheon Myeongdong and found this Chuncheon Myeongdong café called Hoot! Turns out this isn't just a nice-vibes café — the coffee and desserts are genuinely delicious. If you like pecan pie, definitely keep this one in mind!!!!

What kind of café is Hoot in Chuncheon Myeongdong?

I hadn't found a café I really liked lately, but this was a place I kept saying "this is so nice" the whole time I was there. Nice little props scattered around the space, cool and breezy inside, nice airflow too.

Isn't the menu board itself got some character? What's unusual is that it's split into a chocolate menu and an orange menu. Which — doesn't that mean they're confident about their chocolate? I ordered a latte and a dark choco latte that day.

For dessert I tried the pecan pie. Honestly when I ordered it there was only one kind on offer so I didn't expect much, but it ended up being delicious enough to change my opinion of pie desserts, which I'm not usually into!!!

Is there parking at Hoot in the Myeongdong alley?

Can you believe a café this size has its own parking in Myeongdong? I ended up parking at a public lot for nothing lol, because the lot here is honestly huge!! Even though it's tucked in an alley, the space reserved just for Hoot customers is really spacious.

The atmosphere is lovely everywhere you look. It's mostly wood-toned overall, and I liked that the tables are spaced generously apart. You know how all the trendy cafés these days cram tables together so it's awkward to talk...

Hoot in Chuncheon Myeongdong has really high ceilings, so there's a great sense of space and openness. I kept thinking the vibe here was just good!! The owner was really kind too, and every dessert was good, so I felt good the whole time I was there.

How Hoot's latte and dark chocolate latte taste

Starting with the latte! The milk was nutty and the beans themselves tasted good, so it was a solid coffee from the first sip. It's not a latte that's just sweet syrup — you actually taste the coffee, which I liked.

If you're looking for good coffee in Chuncheon, this latte alone is worth trying. And the dark choco latte was really, really good too... T_T

This felt different from the usual choco latte you find at other cafés. True to its name, you get a strong dark chocolate flavor right away, but oddly it's not very sweet. For someone like me who finds the overly sweet taste of typical choco drinks a bit much, this was exactly right. The rich, slightly bitter chocolate flavor also paired well with coffee, so it was great alongside the dessert.

Hoot's pecan pie: worth it even if you don't like pie?

It looks appetizing from the outside, and one bite brings a nutty butter aroma right up, with pecans packed in without holding back. It's not a pecan pie that's just sweet — it has a nutty, deep flavor that felt much more refined. Especially since there were so many pecans, every bite had this crunchy, nutty texture that I loved lol. The pie itself had a rich flavor too, with a subtle buttery scent, so paired with coffee I kept reaching for more.

I usually don't like pie desserts because they can be gooey and soggy, but this one was genuinely, refreshingly crisp with great flavor. They loaded it with high-quality pecans and the flavor was insane. Even if you're not usually a pie person, you have to try this. It'll change your mind....

Is Hoot worth a visit in Chuncheon?

Personally, when desserts are too sweet I get tired of them after a few bites, but I liked that everything I had this day wasn't overly sweet overall. Both the dark choco latte and the pecan pie let the natural flavor of the ingredients come through more than sweetness! It's also a great location for a break while shopping in Chuncheon Myeongdong or checking out Jungang Market nearby, and parking is available for those coming by car, so it's pretty accessible too.
