Chuncheon Myeongdong café with surprisingly good decaf coffee: Hoot
In short
Hoot is a small café on Myeongdong-gil in Chuncheon, Gangwon, focused on coffee and dessert. The order was a decaf coffee, an iced orange latte, pecan pie and choco fudge; the Victoria cake was sold out at the time of the visit, but the decaf coffee's gentle fruity aroma and clean balance were the most memorable part. If you want a Chuncheon Myeongdong café that gets the coffee right and not just the atmosphere, Hoot is the one to remember.

I had somewhere to be in Chuncheon, so I wandered around Myeongdong, heard the coffee and dessert were both great, and dropped by Hoot, a café in Chuncheon Myeongdong!!

When I go to a café, I usually care more about the coffee than the dessert, and I'd heard Hoot's beans were high quality and genuinely tasted good, so I'd saved it as a place I wanted to check out in Chuncheon. I especially wanted to try the Victoria cake since people said it was delicious, but by the time I visited it was already sold out ㅠㅠ So I picked other desserts instead, and in the end they were all delicious too, so I was satisfied haha.
Hoot, a small café in Chuncheon Myeongdong: location and parking

Hoot is located in the Myeongdong area of Chuncheon, so it's a great spot to grab a coffee after eating or shopping in Myeongdong. When I visited, I could park right in front of the café, which made things much easier than expected. Parking around Myeongdong can sometimes be a hassle, so being able to park right in front of the café comfortably was a plus for me.
If you're looking for a café in Chuncheon Myeongdong, this seems like a good place to stop by casually after shopping or a meal. And what I felt when I visited was that it wasn't the vibe of a huge, flashy large café, but more an atmosphere for focusing on and enjoying the coffee and desserts.

When I first walked in, the first thing that caught my eye was the ceiling, higher than I expected, and the clean interior atmosphere. My partner said it felt like being at some café on a European trip, joking that the owner must be from abroad haha. It really did feel that way~
What I ordered at Hoot

This time I ordered decaf coffee and an iced orange latte, and for dessert I picked pecan pie and choco fudge. I'd originally come to eat the Victoria cake, but...

it was already sold out, which was a little disappointing, but I was curious about the pecan pie and choco fudge too, so I ordered those. There are so many pretty cafés in Chuncheon these days, but I really love finding a place where every single menu item feels cared for. This time I felt like I'd properly found a good Chuncheon Myeongdong café haha.
A quiet, comfortable interior that makes you want to read a book

Overall, the space at Hoot didn't feel cramped, and maybe because of the high ceiling, it felt bigger than its actual size! Rather than being packed with décor, the space itself felt spacious and relaxed, making it comfortable to sit and drink coffee. Especially with the high ceiling, the view opened up the moment you walked in, which I really liked.
So how did the decaf coffee and iced orange latte taste?

First off, what really surprised me was the coffee. In particular the decaf coffee was so much better than I expected that, personally, it's one of the best decaf coffees I've ever had. People tend to assume decaf will be a bit lacking in aroma or flavor compared to regular coffee, but I didn't get that feeling at all drinking Hoot's coffee in Chuncheon.

Rather than a nutty style of coffee, it had a gentle fruity note without strong acidity, and the aroma overall was very clean. Not heavy or sharp — more like the aroma quietly rises up after a sip. That made it really good to pair with dessert too.
Personally, when I look for a great coffee spot in Chuncheon, I prefer places where you can really feel the beans' aroma and balance rather than places that are just strong and bitter, and Hoot scored high on that front. If you love decaf coffee, this is definitely worth a try.

And the iced orange latte, recommended by staff, was really delicious too. At first I figured orange and latte together sounded like it wouldn't go with coffee, so I ordered it for my partner to drink lol. But it worked far better than expected. Since it's an orange latte with coffee in it, it wasn't just a simple refreshing orange drink — the coffee's aroma and the citrus freshness came through gently without clashing, and it genuinely tasted great, breaking all my preconceptions!!
Personally, it turned out way better than I expected, so it's one of the menu items I remember most, right alongside the decaf coffee!!!! Hoot's signature menu seems to be the salt latte and orange latte, and I went back and forth before picking the orange latte — I think I chose really well haha. If you're looking for something a bit special in Chuncheon Myeongdong, I'd recommend the orange latte. Even if you can't quite imagine the flavor at first like me, it works surprisingly well and is fun to try.
The pecan pie and choco fudge were good too

I wondered if this was a coffee-only kind of place, but the desserts were pretty satisfying too. The pecan pie and choco fudge I ordered both went well with coffee. The pecan pie especially paired really well with the coffee. After a sweet bite of dessert, a sip of coffee cleaned up the palate and made me reach for more haha. The choco fudge was also a good dessert to pair with coffee if you love chocolate.
Honestly, missing out on the Victoria cake was a bit disappointing at first, but after tasting these, I felt like choosing the pecan pie and choco fudge wasn't a bad call either. Next time I want to visit a bit earlier so I can finally try that supposedly amazing Victoria cake. If it sells out that fast, I'll need to move up my visit time lol.
A Chuncheon Myeongdong café worth remembering if you love coffee
The desserts were good, but this was definitely a café where the coffee stood out. In particular, the decaf coffee I drank had a gentle aroma without strong acidity, and the overall balance was really good. I don't usually go out of my way for decaf coffee, but this time it was so good it stuck with me. I was a bit curious about the orange latte at first, but after trying it, it exceeded expectations, so I'd order it again next time.
If you're looking for great coffee in Chuncheon Myeongdong or want to try a distinctive latte, this place is worth a stop. Especially if you're looking for a Chuncheon Myeongdong café that gets the coffee right, not just a good atmosphere, I'd recommend it.
After this visit, I've personally decided to add Hoot to my list of great coffee spots in Chuncheon haha. Next time I want to make sure to try the sold-out Victoria cake and leave a follow-up review. If you want to enjoy a cup of coffee and a good dessert in Chuncheon Myeongdong, give Hoot a visit :)
