Samgakji after-work shabu dinner with Suntory beer: Shabu in Seoul
In short
Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch is a shabu-shabu restaurant near Samgakji Station in Yongsan, Seoul, on the Yongni-dan-gil restaurant strip. For an after-work dinner date, the writer had the 1st-grade black pork neck shabu set in clear mushroom broth, added kkobuli noodles (curly wheat noodles) and a Suntory draft beer, and finished with egg porridge and omija tea (five-flavor berry tea). Partitions at every table keep Shabu in Seoul quiet, making it a solid pick for dates and wedding-invitation get-togethers.

Hi, it's Journey, your feel-good-restaurant addict :-P I went to the currently-hot Yongni-dan-gil for an after-work date! The vibe at Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch was so good, let me simmer up a proper review (*/ω\*)

Even the exterior gives off great vibes, and since it's right in the middle of the hot Yongni-dan-gil area, it's a good spot to wander around after eating too!

Is Shabu in Seoul private? Partitions at every table
Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch has partitions dividing each table into its own section, so even without a private room it feels private for a meal. The interior also has an upscale feel, making it a solid choice for wedding-invitation gatherings near Samgakji and Sinyongsan~~~ ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

What comes with the set: side dishes and shabu-shabu sauces
The basic table setting at Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch comes with clean, neat tableware overall. Each seat also has dipping sauces ready to go with the shabu-shabu, so it's easy to refill!

Which of the 4 broths should you choose?
Shabu in Seoul has 4 broths in total, and the meal that comes included changes depending on which one you pick, so keep that in mind! My pick was the clean-tasting clear mushroom broth & egg porridge~

Order done, so now let's really get ready to eat! Everyone scoops out sauce to their own taste :-D

I'm obsessed with the ponzu sauce loaded up with garlic and cheongyang chili peppers,,, everyone should really try it (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
1st-grade black pork neck shabu set, the main order
What we ordered at Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch that day was the 1st-grade black pork neck shabu set. The staff set up the broth and mul-kimchi (watery kimchi), and honestly the yeolmu mul-kimchi (young radish water kimchi) is the real kick of shabu-shabu (o゚v゚)ノ

Once the vegetable & mushroom set and the gorgeous neck meat set were both laid out, we were fully ready for a delicious shabu-shabu ♪(^∇^*)

The vegetable set also includes glass noodles, bunmoja (mung bean noodles), and rice paper! Plus the panda-shaped fish cakes I've been seeing all over mukbang YouTube lately~
Once the broth starts boiling, you load in the vegetables first, then flamboyantly (?) add in the shabu-shabu meat.
If you like clean, light flavors, I highly recommend the clear mushroom broth. The longer it simmers, the deeper and more savory it gets. It's an easy-to-digest menu, so it'd also be great for a Samgakji lunch! ( •̀ ω •́ )✧
Suntory draft beer with the shabu-shabu
At Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch you can also drink Suntory draft beer. Since I was there for dinner (?), I had a glass of draft too~ good job today, us dual-income newlyweds (o゚v゚)ノ Samgakji is already a draft beer hotspot, but Suntory draft here too,,,

How Shabu in Seoul recommends eating the shabu-shabu
The method Shabu in Seoul recommends is dipping rice paper in the shabu-shabu broth, then wrapping the vegetables and meat inside it.

A rice paper wrap my husband made for me (*/ω\*) nom nom,,, this is completely insane (in a good way),,,
Adding kkobuli noodles (curly wheat noodles)
You can't skip the kkobuli noodles (curly wheat noodles) with shabu-shabu, so we added them at Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch,,,! Since the broth is made from simmered vegetables and meat, it was crazy good,,,

Egg porridge made at the table in the clear mushroom broth
If you choose the clear mushroom broth, egg porridge comes included as a dessert meal. Even though we already had the noodles, you can't miss out on the included meal (?). Tell the staff and they'll bring over the porridge ingredients and whip it up right at the table ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

At the end they drizzle three circles of sesame oil and sprinkle on some seaweed flakes, and dinner's dessert (?) is complete-
Finishing with omija tea (five-flavor berry tea)
To wrap up the meal at Shabu in Seoul Yongsan Main Branch, we finished with omija tea (five-flavor berry tea)-

For anyone in Yongni-dan-gil looking for a quiet, tidy restaurant, I'd recommend Shabu in Seoul Sinyongsan for dates, wedding-invitation gatherings, and more. The end-
