Jeonju restaurant with carbonara tteokbokki and free corkage: Adam
In short
Adam is a Western restaurant on Gaeksa-gil in Jeonju, Jeonbuk, serving Korean dishes reinterpreted on a Western menu. On a dinner date with her husband, the writer ordered aglio e olio, grilled cabbage, carbonara (rosé) tteokbokki and the YBD pork belly steak in the 20,000-won range, and the pre-meal salad and lemon water showed the same attention to detail. With free corkage and doors open until midnight, Adam suits both a Gaeksa-gil date night and a small gathering.

The vibe here is amazing, and the food is insane too...?

On a Jeonju date day with my husband, we were deciding where to go for dinner and ended up at Adam on Gaeksa-gil. It's one of the most memorable Western restaurants I've been to lately, both for taste and atmosphere, so I want to introduce it as a real find you'll want to come back to whenever you're craving steak and pasta with some ambiance in Jeonju ♡
Where is Adam, and what is the Gaeksa-gil restaurant like inside?

A Gaeksa-gil address made for a Jeonju date night
Adam is located on Jeonju's Gaeksa-gil. Just from the soft light seeping through the large window set into a green-painted wall, the atmosphere already looked great, and the exterior was so pretty that I went in with high expectations — the interior turned out to be even better :)

It opens at 5pm and stays open until midnight, so it's great for a leisurely glass of wine late at night, and since it has no closed days even on weekends, it was a perfect Gaeksa-gil Western restaurant for a weekend date course.

Free corkage at Adam: dates and small gatherings alike
Going in, there are a few two-person tables along a corridor, and a somewhat more separated space further inside, giving it a cozy feel.

The tables are spaced well apart, and the mood is calm rather than crowded, making it perfect for a quiet date for two, but also well suited to gatherings with friends or wedding-invitation get-togethers — small occasions where you want a bit of atmosphere. (Plus, free corkage...!) Having a restroom indoors was also convenient.
Adam's menu and what the four dishes actually tasted like

Western cooking with a spoonful of Korean flavor
Even among Gaeksa-gil Western restaurants, Adam had a lot of signature dishes you can only find here. Mandu stew — a Korean reinterpretation of ravioli, hanwoo... sorry, Korean pork steak using sous-vide hanwoo-style pork instead of beef, truffle sujebi combining Western truffle with Korean hand-pulled dough soup, capellini with salted fermented octopus and perilla leaf... There were so many appealing menu items that put a fusion spin on Korean flavors that just reading the menu gave me the first impression this must be a very skilled chef!

The four dishes at Adam that tasted different
We ordered four dishes total: aglio e olio pasta, grilled cabbage, rosé tteokbokki, and finally the YBD pork belly steak. Ordering was simple via the QR code attached to the table, and I remember being impressed just by how pretty the food looked...!

The first thing to arrive was the pre-meal salad, and the quality was quite high with more volume than I expected, so it clearly wasn't just there for show — it started the meal off on a great note. The tangy sauce cleaned the palate and did its job as an appetizer perfectly, and even the water was lemon water, and the pickles were different from ordinary pickles, so I could feel how much attention went into every detail.

Aglio e olio with parmesan and breadcrumbs
Whenever I go to a Western restaurant, I always try to order steak and pasta, and the pasta I picked at Adam was aglio e olio. Honestly, aglio e olio is such a simple pasta that it often has less impact compared to other pastas, but at Adam it was actually the dish I remembered most!! The olive oil itself tasted great, and with parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs sprinkled on top... the details were different, and it felt really special~

It made me realize food can taste this good without any fancy ingredients — one of the best aglio e olios I've ever had 🫶🏼

Grilled cabbage my vegetable-hating husband finished
Grilled cabbage was a side dish that exceeded expectations, and even my husband, who doesn't usually like vegetables, ate it happily! The cabbage wasn't cooked down to mush — it kept some firm texture, which made for a great bite, and the aioli sauce drizzled on top was so good. This is one of those flavors you just have to try yourself 😎

Carbonara tteokbokki in an egg yolk cream sauce
The second side dish, carbonara tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes), is a flavor women can't help but love... The rice cakes were super chewy, and the cream sauce with egg yolk mixed in was exactly to my taste. I love tteokbokki and I love cream sauce, so this delicious + delicious combo meant I scraped up every last drop with my spoon haha

YBD pork belly steak: Korean pork in the 20,000-won range
And finally, when the pork belly steak arrived, my husband and I both let out a 'wow' of admiration. Seeing the ₩20,000s price, I assumed it would just be decent value for money, but the visuals and quality were no joke 🥹

The meat was glistening, with absolutely no gamey smell, cooked just right to keep a texture that was moist yet firm, and the flavor of the meat itself was great — honestly this was perfect...!! I'd been debating between beef and pork and went with the Korean pork, and I have zero regrets about that choice haha. On one side there was a rich sauce served with potatoes, and on the other a sauce with a refreshing yuzu aroma, so I liked being able to enjoy it two different ways.
Is Adam worth it for a steak and pasta date in Jeonju Gaeksa?

I visited Adam on a date with my husband, and everything from the food to the atmosphere was satisfying. Every single dish we ate was memorable, and the flavors were so much better than I expected, so this is definitely a place I'll come back to whenever I'm looking for a date restaurant with great ambiance on Jeonju's Gaeksa-gil!! Whether it's a date where you want to enjoy steak and pasta together with a bit of atmosphere in Jeonju, or important occasions like meeting friends or a wedding-invitation gathering — I recommend Adam :)
