It's fall gizzard shad season so I couldn't stop thinking about it! I wanted to eat it while feeling the sea breeze, so let me give you a detailed review of eating gizzard shad and seafood ramyeon at Eochongye 1beonji, a raw fish restaurant with an outdoor seating area on Bandal Island in Ansan!

What is the inside of Eochongye 1beonji like?

The inside of Eochongye 1beonji has an atmosphere where a huge chandelier catches your eye. Unlike how the exterior looks, this big, fancy-looking chandelier really caught my attention. The lighting is bright and pretty, and the interior is clean, giving it a different vibe from typical raw fish restaurants! A raw fish restaurant-restaurant? kind of vibe, I'd say! Anyway, the music is upbeat and the atmosphere is great! And I completely loved that the tables are stainless steel, giving it a clean look!

Room for group dinners and company outings

Eochongye 1beonji has its interior divided into sections, so it seems great for group dinners or gatherings since it's so spacious, plus there's an outdoor seating area as big as a sports field!

If you don't want to go outside but still want to feel the atmosphere, there are tables like this inside where you can look out at the outdoor seating! The wide-open sports-field-sized outdoor area has such an open view, it's the best!

There are also baby chairs ready so parents with babies can eat comfortably! And you can charge your phone conveniently too. Plus there's convenient QR Wi-Fi — having services like this is so convenient and nice! I came here knowing it as an Ansan Bandal Island restaurant, but it's actually a service restaurant!

Fall gizzard shad is in season, but grilled shrimp can't be missed either!

At Eochongye 1beonji you just order conveniently via table-side ordering. The two of us ordered gizzard shad sashimi for ₩45,000 and crab seafood ramyeon for ₩12,000, ₩57,000 total. This is the main sashimi menu board, and there are various side dishes besides this too.

Eochongye 1beonji's basic side dish spread includes hot seaweed soup, salad, seaweed, white kimchi, green peas, silkworm pupae, garlic, perilla leaves, special ssamjang (seasoned dipping sauce), and shiitake wasabi.

How do the gizzard shad sashimi and crab seafood ramyeon taste?

I was so surprised at how huge the portion of gizzard shad sashimi at Eochongye 1beonji was! The crab seafood ramyeon's spicy-looking visual, love it 👍 It was torture not being able to have a drink since I had my car with me ㅜㅜ

The portion is so huge, you can eat your fill of the savory fall gizzard shad!

I ordered the seafood ramyeon with shrimp, mussels, and crab after seeing a review saying it's a must-try, and now I understand why! The broth doesn't taste like regular ramyeon soup base. It tastes like a spicy jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) broth, and combined with the chewy noodles and seafood, it's so delicious! You must try the seafood ramyeon 👍

I finally got to meet the gizzard shad sashimi I'd been waiting for all fall! The savory gizzard shad sashimi — I ate it following the instructions posted at Eochongye 1beonji and also wrapped it in various ssam (wrap) styles, so unlike just dipping it in vinegar-chili sauce, I got to enjoy it with a variety of flavors 👍
