Sottture Dakdoritang is a chicken stew (dakdoritang) restaurant in Seongjeong-dong, Cheonan, known for its thick, spicy-sweet broth. Crispy flat mandu dipped straight into the broth, a chick-shaped boiled egg garnish, and a one-cone-per-person ice cream self-bar after the meal rounded out the visit. A roomy private parking lot behind the building made it an easy pick for a family meal by car.
Donghae Bada Hoetjip is a seafood restaurant in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan, with a free parking lot. Four friends ordered the mixed sashimi platter plus seafood stew for four, working through a spread of banchan — seaweed soup, jeon, silkworm pupae, salad, grilled fish, and boiled pork — before finishing with the crab tempura given for writing a review. The sashimi portion felt a touch small, but the generous banchan and seafood stew made the price worth it, and the private rooms make it a good pick for family meals or work dinners.

Visiting on a weekday at 11:10am, the writer tried eggplant doenjang rice bowl and mackerel gondeure rice, with the best bite being rice and spicy seasoned salted fish wrapped in gopchang gim (thick roasted seaweed). With solo bar seats and building parking, it worked well as an easy early lunch.
Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch is a Korean soup restaurant in Baekseok-dong, Cheonan, Chungnam. On the way home from a camping trip, the writer ordered dakgaejang (spicy shredded chicken soup), seolleongtang (ox bone soup) and juicy dumplings, and the hot broth and rice filled an empty stomach completely. Yukdaejang Cheonan Baekseok Branch is worth another stop whenever a warm meal is needed after camping.
Daecheon Brewery Craft Beer Brewery & Pizza Pub is a craft beer pub near Daecheon Beach in Boryeong, Chungnam, that brews on site and serves pizza in the same building. Arriving right at the noon opening during a family trip, we ordered the DCB Platter (38,000 won for 2–3 people) with unfiltered draft beer. Fries, sausage and chicken drumettes alongside crisp beer make Daecheon Brewery an easy pick for travellers who want something different in Daecheon.
Euljiro Yeontan Gui Cheonan Buldang Branch is a briquette-grill pork restaurant on the first floor of the Lee&City building in Buldang-dong, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan. Diners reserve a table with a live briquette fire and order samgyeopsal (pork belly), which arrives pre-salted and tastes good with no extra seasoning, while the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) costs 2,000 won. With a self-serve side dish bar and friendly staff, Euljiro Yeontan Gui is an easy, casual pick when you want grilled meat in Buldang-dong.
Geurimseu Cafe is a large café and brunch spot on Mijuk5-gil in Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, Chungnam, with a wide parking lot. The order was a gorgonzola pizza at 14,900 won plus cold brew concentrate with a cup of ice requested on the side, and the wood-fired pizza came loaded with cheese on a thin crust that tasted nutty even eaten plain. Geurimseu Cafe is a place where good coffee and a proper wood-fired pizza come together.
Cheongwon Sikdang (Cheongwon Restaurant: Cooking Budae-jjigae, Cheonan Dujeong Main Branch) is a budae-jjigae (army stew) restaurant in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan, serving Songtan-style stew and a Cheongwon version made with cheongyang chili. Arriving right after opening at 11:10am the morning after drinking, the writer ordered two portions of Cheongwon budae-jjigae (12,000 won each) with a glass noodle add-on (2,000 won) and received the free egg roll given to guests who arrive before 11:30am. With a fiery broth plus unlimited ramen noodles and rice, Cheongwon Sikdang works as both a hangover cure and a filling lunch.
Bulnaneun Jjukkumi Yuryang Direct Branch is a jjukkumi (spicy webfoot octopus) restaurant in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan, near Taejosan. After a weekday hike up Taejosan, lunch here was the jjukkumi set ordered at the mild spice level, served with shrimp bigger than a hand, self-bar sides, and sungnyung (hot rice water) from the pot rice. Even diners who struggle with heat can enjoy Bulnaneun Jjukkumi on the mild setting.
Green Brownie Boryeong City Hall Branch is a brunch café on the first floor of Edutower near Boryeong City Hall in Chungnam. An iced americano and one brunch plate brought toast topped with salad, bacon and tomato, along with shrimp, egg, sausage and fruit including banana, apple, tomato, peach and orange. Green Brownie is an easy place to handle a meal and a coffee in one stop while traveling around Daecheon Beach.
Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch is a hanok-style Korean crab restaurant on Yuryang-ro in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan, Chungnam. The albaegi jeongsik set for two (35,000 won per person, 70,000 won for two) brings soy-marinated crab eaten with warm rice and spicy marinated crab whose meat you pick out, mix with sesame oil and wrap in seaweed, with disposable gloves and a dish of sesame oil set out for you. Kkotgeok worked well as a date spot, and with wide seating and plenty of parking it suits a family meal just as much.
Huni Gejang Cheonan Main Branch is a blue crab soup and soy-marinated crab restaurant at the entrance of the food street in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan. Two people ordered the small traditional blue crab soup (jeongtong kkotgetang) for 70,000 won plus two stone-pot rice add-ons, and the four large blue crabs and generous radish made a clean, refreshing broth in a portion that was more than enough for two. For a refreshing crab soup broth, Huni Gejang is best visited as a party of three.
