What kind of place is Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch?
While looking for a good Korean restaurant in Yuryang-dong, Cheonan, I ended up at Kkotgeok Cheonan Yuryang-dong Branch. This visit was all about properly trying the albaegi jeongsik (roe-filled crab set) — I'm a big fan of marinated crab, so I went in with high expectations, and to cut to the chase, I ate really well.
Open daily 11:00–21:00, and parking is available!!

Even before stepping inside, Kkotgeok had a hanok (traditional Korean house) feel that set a really nice mood. The quiet hanok atmosphere paired with a crab menu surprisingly well.

The inside was clean and the seats were wide, so there was no cramped feeling during the meal. Parking was also plentiful, which was great since I brought a car. Parking near Yuryang-dong can be a bit of a hassle, so this was a definite plus.
How much is the albaegi crab set for two at Kkotgeok?
We ordered the albaegi jeongsik set for two.

The price is ₩35,000 per person, so ₩70,000 for two. If you love marinated crab, this is a great option since you get to try both soy-marinated crab and spicy marinated crab at once.

What does the soy-marinated crab taste like?
I started with the soy-marinated crab and it lived up to the hype! Picking out the crab meat and eating it with warm rice was genuinely delicious. The salty savoriness of soy crab paired with rice kept my chopsticks going back for more. I even mixed a little rice into the leftover soy sauce, and a whole bowl of rice disappeared in no time. That said, the spicy marinated crab was really good too.

Spicy marinated crab mixed with sesame oil and wrapped in seaweed
The spicy marinated crab was better picked apart and mixed into rice rather than eaten on its own. I added a bit of sesame oil, mixed it all together, then wrapped it in seaweed — that combination was really tasty. I even took a photo of it. These small touches were what I loved most about the meal.
Disposable gloves, sesame oil and what else is set out
Disposable gloves for eating crab were provided, along with a separate bottle of sesame oil, which made everything much easier to eat.

No matter how good marinated crab is, it can get your hands messy and a bit fiddly to eat — so having these details thought through was really nice. The staff were friendly too, and the whole meal felt comfortable. At a restaurant, taste matters, but these small details make a big difference in overall satisfaction. I appreciated that about this place too.
Pet-friendly annex, date nights and family meals in Cheonan
I also noticed that dogs are welcome here. If you're visiting with a pet, you can use the annex building, which makes this a solid option for anyone looking for a dog-friendly restaurant. We came on a date this time, but the calm, comfortable atmosphere made me think it would also work well for a family meal. If you're looking for a clean Korean restaurant in Yuryang-dong to visit with your parents, this is worth trying at least once. Overall, there was truly nothing to complain about on this visit.
