Cafe Neorae is a large café in Sokcho, Gangwon, with window views of Ulsanbawi and Seoraksan. We tried a Neorae Latte, Watermelon Kok Juice, potato bread, and chocolate shell bread, and found spacious seating and family-friendly facilities. Cafe Neorae is a lovely place to take a relaxed break during a Sokcho trip.

Sokcho Korean restaurant for hearty gamjatang lunch: Gwandongjip

Gwandongjip is a Korean restaurant in Sokcho, Gangwon, serving gamjatang and other hearty soups and stews. My family shared a medium gamjatang packed with pork bones, potatoes, sujebi, and vegetables, with just-manageable heat even for someone sensitive to spice. Verdict: a satisfying lunch stop worth returning to for fried rice.

Gangneung café with kids’ play space and parking: Gangneung Sand

Gangneung Sand Main Branch is a dessert café in Gangneung, Gangwon, spread across floors 1 through 3. After looking around the roomy parking lot and children’s play space, I packed strawberry and Chodang corn buttercream sand cookies to enjoy at the hotel. Gangneung Sand Main Branch is a lovely stop for family souvenir shopping.

Gangneung café with purple sweet potato sand: Gangneung Sand

Gangneung Sand Main Branch is a café and dessert shop in Gangneung, Gangwon, selling sand cookies and Bangpaje Bbang. I chose one box each of purple sweet potato and Chodang corn sand cookies as family gifts, then split them half-and-half with my boyfriend while enjoying the fifth-floor observatory view. Verdict: a great stop when you want both the new purple sweet potato flavor and Chodang corn cream.
