Gangneung burger restaurant with chili beans: Moana Burger

Before summer ended, I took a trip to Gangneung for the first time in ages. For September, Jju’s travel diary will be mostly about Gangneung accommodations, restaurants, and attractions.

Today is the first story from my Gangneung trip! Let me introduce Moana Burger, one of the restaurants on my must-visit list before the trip.

Is Moana Burger pet-friendly?

There are three burger choices—Moana, Hawaiian, and Double Moana—and they are all priced as sets that include fries🍔🍟 For sides, there are buffalo wings and fries, plus house-made ranch dip and chili beans, so choose whatever suits your taste.

The handmade burgers and chili beans I tried

I ordered the Moana Burger, Hawaiian Burger, ranch sauce, chili beans, and two soft drinks—just like this.

First, let me leave a review of the handmade burgers. The key points were the warm, buttery and savory buns and patties full of juices! Fresh, crisp vegetables also popped up in every few bites, so they brought a fresh feel all at once.

The Moana Burger comes with romaine, red onion, tomato, cheese, and Moana Special Sauce! It has that classic handmade-burger style: rich and indulgent, with vegetables that work beautifully between bites.

The Hawaiian Burger comes with pineapple, bacon, romaine, cheese, Moana teriyaki sauce, and ranch sauce! The sweet pineapple came through now and then between the juicy handmade patty and savory bun, and it was so tasty.

The fries that come with the burgers were warm, crisp, and nicely salty, making them great alongside the handmade burgers. I added the house-made ranch sauce and tried them together—it was tangy and deeply savory, a truly delicious ranch sauce unlike any I’d had before. It was incomparably better than store-bought ranch sauce.

Chili bean sauce made by the owner of Moana Burger, a Gangneung favorite! This, this is something you absolutely have to order. It’s a spicy sauce made with meat and beans; it is delicious with fries, and it is wonderfully spicy with a burger too.

When you order a burger, they also give you a flower pin. It is an accessory that suits the sea, and it was such a perfect fashion item for Moana Burger that it made me happy.

Have it with a cold soft drink and the refreshing feeling is a bonus! I found such a delicious handmade-burger spot that I would definitely want to stop by again whenever I visit Gangneung.

Moana Burger’s atmosphere and amenities

With its open kitchen and spacious dining room, it felt airy rather than cramped. There are tables for two and four, making this a Gangneung restaurant where anyone—from solo diners to groups—can visit comfortably.
