I had some delicious handmade burgers during my trip to Gangneung! When you visit Gangneung, seeing the sea and eating great food is what makes it feel like a proper trip, haha. This time, while looking for a lunch spot near Gangmun Beach, I visited Moana Burger, a handmade burger specialist. I already like burgers, so I thought I should try a good handmade one while traveling—and the patty was even tastier than I expected, so this place has really stayed with me.

We ordered the Moana Double Burger and the Hawaiian Burger that day! We wanted to try both, so we chose one of each, and in the end I was so glad we ordered a variety of menu items, haha.

Because it is near Gangmun Beach, it is also in a great location for stopping by for a meal after looking at the sea. When traveling in Gangneung, you often end up searching for cafés or good restaurants around Gangmun Beach. Spending time at the beach and then having a delicious handmade burger sounded like a nice travel itinerary too.

A clean restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere

When I went inside, the whole restaurant was neatly maintained, so I had a good first impression right away. The tables and overall atmosphere were comfortable, and even the restroom was kept clean, so there was nothing inconvenient during the meal. The owner was also truly kind, which stayed with me. Even though it was my first visit, they made us feel at ease, and somehow it made me feel relaxed too. Delicious food is important, but I think a kind staff member or owner definitely changes how a meal feels.

Everything was comfortably maintained, and the restroom was clean too, so it was easy to use. Seeing even these small details kept tidy made the meal feel even nicer.

A place you can visit with your dog

There was another thing that caught my eye at Moana Burger. They have a dog at the restaurant! The dog was so gentle and cute that just seeing it made me happy. In particular, this is a dog-friendly restaurant, so I think it would be an especially welcome spot for anyone traveling to Gangneung with their dog.

When you travel with a dog, there are fewer dog-friendly restaurants than you might think, so finding somewhere to eat can be surprisingly difficult. You can still find cafés, but restaurant options suddenly feel much more limited, so I tend to research them before a trip. In that sense, being able to visit Moana Burger with a dog felt like a real advantage. You can enjoy the sea near Gangmun Beach and then have delicious handmade burgers with your dog, so it may be worth keeping in mind if you are planning a Gangneung trip with a pet. Above all, the restaurant itself was clean, so there was no need to worry just because it is dog-friendly.

After a short wait, the burgers we ordered arrived. As you would expect from handmade burgers, they looked a little different from typical hamburgers from the start. They were generously filled with ingredients and looked appetizing just sitting there.

As expected from handmade burgers, the patties really tasted different. When I took a bite, they were full of juices and so delicious. Sometimes a burger patty can be dry, or seasoned so strongly that the other ingredients get lost, but at Moana Burger, I could taste the patty's own flavor while it also worked beautifully with everything else. I especially liked how the flavors of each ingredient naturally came together with every bite. The bun, patty, vegetables, and sauce did not feel separate; the whole combination was so well balanced that it tasted better and better as I ate.

Every ingredient also felt fresh. The vegetables were crisp and clean-tasting, with a great texture alongside the juicy patty. Each bite felt packed with flavor, and it really felt like I was having a proper handmade burger. Since it was a double burger with two patties, it was definitely filling too. One burger alone would probably leave you quite full.

We also tried the Hawaiian Burger, which we ordered alongside it. It had a different charm from the Moana Double Burger, so it was nice to share the two. If you order several menu items and split them in half like we did, it could be fun to choose burgers according to each person's taste. Personally, I think anyone who enjoys the rich flavor of handmade burgers would be satisfied.

The tasty handmade burgers made my mouth happy, and the warm welcome made me feel relaxed too. Searching out good restaurants is fun while traveling, but sometimes even delicious food can feel disappointing if a place is uncomfortable or hectic. Moana Burger, though, had tasty food, a clean restaurant, and a comfortable atmosphere, so I was very satisfied overall.

The juices and flavor from the patties were especially memorable, and the fresh ingredients came together to make the burgers truly delicious. We enjoyed both, so if I visit again, I would like to try other menu items too. I would recommend Moana Burger to anyone planning to visit Gangmun Beach during a Gangneung trip or looking for a filling meal nearby.

And a side dish that burgers cannot do without! We had fries too, and they were nicely fried and crispy. They were crisp outside and soft inside, with just the right amount of saltiness, so they went perfectly with the burgers. Take a bite of burger, then pick up a fry, and you just keep reaching for more. Burgers do feel a little incomplete without fries!

Another thoughtful touch from the owner was the disposable gloves! Handmade burgers are packed with ingredients, so your hands can often get messy while eating, but the owner at Moana Burger prepared gloves for us, so there was no inconvenience at all.

Especially if you love handmade burgers, I think you will enjoy tasting the combination of juicy patties and fresh ingredients. And if you are visiting Gangneung with your cute dog, it is good to know that this is a dog-friendly place too.
