Gangneung café for cone affogato and changing chocolate latte

In short

Coffee Dripper is a roastery café in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, serving house-roasted coffee and cone-shaped dessert drinks. I tried the 8,000 won cone chocolate latte, 8,500 won cone affogato, and salt vanilla financier in its plant-filled space. Verdict: come for a coffee experience that turns into dessert.

Let me introduce Coffee Dripper in Gangneung.

Introduction to Coffee Dripper in Gangneung

What is Coffee Dripper in Gangneung like?

It is open Monday through Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00 and regularly closed every Tuesday. Coffee Dripper is a roastery café that has brewed hand-drip coffee with beans roasted in-house in Gyodong, Gangneung, since 2012. After operating in the same spot for more than 10 years, it reopened in May 2026 with a new space and menu. I fell for the visuals of its unusual drinks, where the cone itself becomes the cup, and came all the way to Gangneung because I had to know how they tasted. 🤣

Coffee Dripper exterior

The exterior felt clean and polished overall. The outdoor area and terrace tucked between the buildings were beautifully done too, so it looked like a lovely place to sit outside with coffee on a nice day.

Inside, the first things that caught my eye were the green plants and wood-toned interior. The plants dotted around and the wooden furniture gave warmth and character to a space that could otherwise have felt a little cool.

The sunlight pouring through the floor-to-ceiling windows made it feel wonderfully open too! A huge roasting machine on one side made the roastery-café identity unmistakable. They also sell beans and goods such as cups, plates, and T-shirts. Personally, I was so tempted by the gorgeous cups, but I am trying to own less these days for my minimalist phase, so I barely held back. The menu is quite varied too.

Out on the terrace, there is a mural that goes so well with the green trees behind it. It felt like a photo spot where every shot would come out atmospheric! Personally, I really loved this area.

Ordering the cone chocolate latte and cone affogato

What we ordered today: the cone chocolate latte and cone affogato.

I wanted the yuja (Korean citron) financier, but it was already sold out, and there was only one salt vanilla financier left—so that was what I ordered.

Crisp cone chocolate latte

A cone chocolate latte that stayed crisp to the end

Here came the cone chocolate latte I had been most curious about! Honestly, these visuals are why I came all the way to Gangneung just to drink coffee. 🤣 I wondered, wouldn’t a hot latte make the cone soggy right away? But amazingly, it stayed crisp until I had finished every last bit of coffee.

At first, the nutty latte flavor came through first. As time passed, the chocolate coating inside the cone slowly melted and mixed with the latte, making it taste like a sweet chocolate latte.

After finishing the coffee, I happily munched on the crisp cone too. It felt like having coffee and dessert all at once.

The cone after drinking the coffee

At the bottom of the cone revealed after I finished the latte was dark chocolate, with a deep, slightly bitter chocolate flavor. Then, after that, white chocolate appeared from the inside!

There was even a smooth, creamy white-chocolate finish. The way the flavors kept changing in one cone made this such an unusual, charming coffee.

Cone affogato with espresso on the side

The cone affogato comes with the espresso separately. I first scooped up the sweet, soft ice cream inside the cone, then tried it with the espresso. The rich, full-bodied, slightly bitter espresso paired so well with the sweet ice cream.

Salt vanilla financier and Americano

The salt vanilla financier was golden on the outside and dense yet moist within, with a sweet-and-salty flavor and lovely buttery notes.

Now I understood why the financiers sell out early. I dipped it into the cone chocolate latte too, and that was good as well. The sweetness of the chocolate made the sweet-and-salty financier taste even richer.

On the way out, I added an iced Americano to drink in the car! Coffee Dripper’s Americano was not the bright, acidic style I personally love; it was more nutty and clean-finishing. As you would expect from a roastery café that roasts its own beans, even the basic coffee was easy and pleasant to drink. If you want to enjoy something a little different from ordinary coffee in a pretty setting, this is a Gangneung café I would recommend.

The cone chocolate latte and cone affogato, especially, were memorable for their great visuals and the changing flavors you get to enjoy along the way. If you are looking for a café in Chodang-dong or want unusual coffee and dessert while traveling in Gangneung, do stop by Coffee Dripper~
