Gangneung café for classic drip coffee: Coffee Dripper

Coffee Dripper is a café in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, serving classic coffee and desserts made with local ingredients. I tried the 6,500 won Dripper Latte, cone chocolate latte, Chodang sundubu pudding, and house-roasted Dripper Blend in its renewed wood-toned space. Verdict: a lovely stop for an unhurried coffee during a Gangneung trip.

Gangneung café with coffee sand cookies and art exhibits

Gangneung Sand Main Branch (강릉샌드 본점) is a dessert café in Gangneung, Gangwon, known for sand cookies made with local coffee and dried persimmon. I chose the coffee and Chodang sweet corn flavors and explored the art exhibition and event spaces across floors 1–3. Verdict: a lovely stop for a Gangneung souvenir and a little browsing time.

Sokcho Korean restaurant for hearty gamjatang lunch: Gwandongjip

Gwandongjip is a Korean restaurant in Sokcho, Gangwon, serving gamjatang and other hearty soups and stews. My family shared a medium gamjatang packed with pork bones, potatoes, sujebi, and vegetables, with just-manageable heat even for someone sensitive to spice. Verdict: a satisfying lunch stop worth returning to for fried rice.
