Verdict: a peaceful, filling meal I’d happily return for.
Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch is a 24-hour Korean BBQ restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul. Nini had chewy pork belly, thin-sliced Hanwoo brisket, and soft tofu jjageuli with the 2,000 won-per-person self-serve bar. Verdict: Nini would return just to order the Hanwoo brisket again.
Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is a Korean snack restaurant in Yongsan, Seoul. After browsing I’Park Mall with a friend, I waited 10 minutes around noon for the ₩22,000 medium two-person instant tteokbokki. Verdict: a satisfyingly spicy, sweet, and savory tteokbokki worth returning for.

After work, I shared a roe shrimp and chive pancake and Jjagechi with green onion kimchi over makgeolli at a partitioned table. Verdict: a comfortable pick when you want pancakes and a drink with conversation.
Yuil Jangeo is an eel restaurant in Pyeong-dong, Gwangsan, Gwangju, where diners choose a prepared eel pack and grill it over charcoal. A ₩35,000 pack for two, a well-stocked self-serve bar, and generous eel soup with rice made the meal especially satisfying. Verdict: Yuil Jangeo is a place I would happily revisit for great-value eel.

On a weekday evening, I had 450 g of Black Angus emperor beef ribs and 200 g of Korean beef tartare, plus kimchi stew and complimentary milk bingsu. Verdict: I would happily come back for the thick, chewy ribs.
Cheongchun Bulppyeojjim Gamjatang is a Korean restaurant near Incheon Nonhyeon Station in Namdong, Incheon. Its regular haejangguk was generously portioned, while the medium-spicy bulppyeojjim was as hot as Buldak but had a delicious sauce. Verdict: a memorable spot for rich, spicy broth and tender pork.
Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a Japanese gyukatsu restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul. Sirloin steak and sirloin gyukatsu cost 19,500 won each and are grilled with butter over a table brazier. Verdict: order the gyukatsu if you are having lunch near Seoul Station.

Its dakdoritang comes generously loaded with chicken, wheat rice cakes, and glass noodles, and I ended up ordering extra noodles. Verdict: A great match for a hearty meal or spicy drinking food with cold draft beer.
