What the Gwangalli restaurant Extra Mile is like

I visited Extra Mile, a Western restaurant in Gwangalli serving pizza and pasta.

The name Extra Mile is said to be inspired by the Bible verse about going the 'extra mile.'

It's meant to carry the meaning of going beyond simply serving food, to deliver flavor and service that exceed expectations.

It's the first location the team has opened in Gwangalli, following Free Will Pizza, Pickles, and Upper East Bakery in Jeonpo-dong, so I was even more excited.

Extra Mile is located on the 1st floor at 11 Suyeong-ro 554beonga-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan.

It's about 461m from Exit 5 of Gwangan Station on Busan Metro Line 2, and it's also an easy walk from Gwangalli Beach.

It's on a central Gwangan-dong alley that's also easy to reach from the Suyeong-gu Office and Suyeong-dong areas.

There's no parking right in front, so if you're driving, the nearby Boseong Private Parking Lot is a good option.

White exterior, warm wood-toned interior

Turning into the alley, Extra Mile's exterior caught my eye — it looked like a renovated single-family house painted pure white.

The black railing and warm wood-toned window frames blended together beautifully, making the exterior feel stylish from the start.

There's a Catch Table waitlist device at the entrance, handy for when there's a wait.

Inside, the space is centered around wood tones, giving the whole place a warm, comfortable feel.

Natural light poured in through the large windows, making the space feel even brighter and more cheerful.

With a bar table facing the open kitchen, regular tables, and wall sofa seats, the variety of seating made it feel great for a date as well as visits with friends or family.

Coat hooks and disposable aprons were also provided, a thoughtful touch.

Coloring paper and crayons while you wait

Each table had not just plates and cutlery but also coloring paper printed with a seagull design, plus crayons.

While waiting for the food, it was a small joy to color the seagull's wings however I liked.

It felt like even adults could return to childhood for a moment, and it seemed like a great touch for families visiting with kids.

Orange juice to start

The orange juice we ordered came with fresh orange slices on top, looking refreshing right away.

They also gave us two straws, so we could easily share it between us.

Near the table, lemon water, extra cups, napkins, and pickles were all neatly set up, so we could use whatever we needed.

The crisp pickles were nice to snack on between bites of pizza and pasta.

Our group ordered the classic combo for two at ₩42,000.

It's a set where you choose one pizza and one pasta.

We went with the salad pizza with a cheese crust add-on, and tomato pasta.

We also added an orange juice to share.

Pizzas can also be ordered half-and-half, and the cheese crust add-on costs ₩4,000.

The salad pizza came loaded with European greens, Caesar dressing, cranberries, olives, and nuts.

Finely grated cheese on top rounded out an appetizing look.

Cold-fermented for 48 hours, the dough had a well-baked exterior with an impressively chewy interior.

The fresh vegetables, savory cheese, cranberries, and nuts all came together nicely, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Adding the cheese crust meant even the edge of the dough was delicious, and I was glad I added it.

The tomato pasta looked gorgeous, with plenty of white stracciatella cheese piled on top of the red tomato sauce.

Fresh basil and cherry tomatoes added even more color and appetite appeal.

It uses top-grade San Marzano tomatoes for deep flavor, and the restaurant reportedly makes its pasta sauce entirely from scratch, with no ready-made products.

Mixing the soft stracciatella cheese thoroughly into the tomato sauce and then eating it with the noodles, the two flavors blended together naturally.

It was a delicious pasta that paired well alongside the pizza too.

Is Extra Mile a good Gwangalli date spot?

Extra Mile was a Gwangalli Western restaurant where we got to enjoy pizza and pasta together in a warm, stylish space.

You could feel the care put into the food, from the 48-hour cold-fermented pizza dough to the house-made pasta sauce, and the salad pizza and tomato pasta we ordered were both delicious.

There was also fun in just looking around the space, from the coloring paper and crayons to the open kitchen and the variety of seating.
