A Saturday night drink in Sangin-dong

This time I went out for drinks with a close unnie (older female friend) at Toriaejeu Sangin Daegu Branch.

We visited on a Saturday evening, and being the weekend, the place was pretty packed.

Rather than a quiet spot for a low-key chat over drinks, it had a lively, bustling atmosphere with lots of customers talking and drinking.

We'd come to chat over drinks with my friend, so honestly this vibe wasn't bad at all.

With the place packed full of people, we ended up getting swept up in the excitement too, haha.

A location you can walk to from Sangin Station

It's pretty close to Sangin Station too — about 300m from Exit 3 of Sangin Station on Daegu Subway Line 1, so it's a fine spot to walk to.

It's a good place if you're looking for a second-round drinking spot after dinner in Sangin-dong, or want a casual yakitori and beer with friends or a partner.

Hours and closed days

⏰ Open daily 18:00–02:00, last order 01:00. There's no listed break time, and it's closed on the fifth Tuesday of each month.

They note that waits can happen on weekend evenings, so if you're planning to visit on a Saturday or Sunday night especially, it might be good to check on reservations or waiting beforehand.

Ordering by writing on a memo slip

There's also a spot to hang your coat, just so you know.

They had quite a lot of Demon Slayer interior decor here, of all things?!? Fun to look around at, haha.

And here, instead of telling the staff each item out loud, you write down what you want on a memo slip and hand it over. There's a wide variety of skewers, and some menus let you pick a flavor, so you look at the menu, write down what you want to eat, and pass it along.

We ended up picking this and that and ordered whole pork belly, whole chicken breast, heart, skin, rice ball, corn, negima, and whole thigh — and had all the skewers salt-grilled.

For grilled skewers, you can choose flavors like salt, spicy, or sauce depending on the menu item, and for items with flavor options, you just write down the flavor you want along with the item on the memo slip. No complicated ordering needed — just look at the menu and write it down, which was actually pretty convenient.

If it's hard to choose as a first-timer, there's also a 10-piece yakitori platter — worth keeping in mind!!!

Starting with Kirin draft beer

As soon as we sat down, we ordered 2 glasses of Kirin draft.

Draft beer with a close friend on a Saturday evening is always good, haha.

With a cold draft in front of each of us, we chatted about this and that while picking out skewer items. Toriaejeu had more yakitori varieties than expected, so it was fun going through the menu picking things out one by one.

A cabbage side dish also came out, and we tried it — tasted healthy and good!!!

What we ordered that day

• 2 Kirin drafts
• 1 whole pork belly skewer
• 1 whole chicken breast skewer
• 1 whole thigh skewer
• 1 heart skewer
• 1 skin skewer
• 1 negima skewer
• 1 rice ball
• 1 corn

And all the skewers were ordered salt-flavored. The menu had several options like salt, sauce, and spicy grilled, but that day we just wanted something classic, so we picked salt for everything.

Trying different yakitori

We started with the whole pork belly, then went through chicken breast, thigh, heart, skin, and negima one by one.

Since there were so many skewer types, it was nice to order a variety of cuts and share one by one with my friend rather than sticking to one item.

That day especially, it wasn't so much about rating every single flavor in detail, haha...

...since we hadn't seen each other in ages and had so much to talk about, and with the place packed on a Saturday, we just enjoyed the whole bar atmosphere while eating.

So as each dish came out, we'd take a photo, eat it right away, chat some more, have a drink — that kind of relaxed flow.

Also ordered rice ball and corn

Since eating only skewers felt like something was missing, we ordered a rice ball and corn too. As the skewers piled up on the table, it ended up looking more filling than expected.

By the end, the two of us couldn't even remember exactly what or how much we'd ordered, haha.

Looking back at the photos, we laughed and said, "Wow, we really ate a lot that day, didn't we?" We cleaned every plate.

Saturday evening bar vibe in Sangin-dong

Personally, what stuck with me most that day wasn't the food but the lively Saturday evening atmosphere.

Since it was the weekend, there were a lot of customers and the place was quite bustling — with glasses clinking and chatter everywhere, it really felt like a proper weekend night out for drinks.

Rather than a quiet date spot, this felt like a good place to visit with friends, acquaintances, or a partner, order a bunch of tasty skewers, and chat over drinks.

The place also has both counter seats and table seats, so it seemed set up well for anything from drinking solo to small group gatherings.

Good to know before you visit

Toriaejeu Sangin Daegu Branch is noted as a place where waits can occur during weekend peak hours.

When we visited on Saturday, there really were a lot of customers, so if you're planning a weekend evening visit, this is worth keeping in mind.

Also, since yakitori is grilled to order, it might be better to add items one at a time rather than ordering a bunch all at once.

Besides Kirin draft, they also have a good range of highballs, so I'd like to try one next time.

Final thoughts

This visit was really about meeting my close friend after a while and enjoying good food and drinks while catching up.

It was a bit crowded since it was Saturday, but I feel like we really got to experience that distinctive lively weekend bar atmosphere. There was a good variety of skewers to pick from, and going all salt-grilled made for an easy, enjoyable meal.

Above all, the location near Sangin Station was convenient, making it a good option to keep in mind when looking for a second-round bar or a date-night bar in Sangin-dong.

Next time, I'd like to try the other skewers we didn't get to, along with a highball :)
