Korean breakfast set meals at Forest Resom, Jecheon: Deulbabae

On this trip to Forest Resom, I was trying to figure out where to eat breakfast, and the place I ended up at was Deulbabae!

When you're traveling, sometimes you don't want a heavy breakfast — you just want warm rice with good Korean side dishes. We wanted a hearty breakfast this time too, so after a bit of searching we landed on Deulbabae :) If you're looking for a Korean restaurant near Forest Resom, this is a place worth stopping by, so I wanted to share it with anyone hunting for good food in Jecheon. What we ordered at Deulbabae Forest Resom Branch

At Deulbabae Forest Resom Branch we ordered three servings of the bulbeombeok jeyuk (spicy stir-fried pork) set and two servings of the grilled mackerel set. We went back and forth on the menu for a while and decided to split it up so we could try a bit of everything. With a group, splitting up the orders like this is great because you get to taste several dishes.

After ordering, it wasn't long before a neat spread of banchan started arriving at the table.

With this much variety of side dishes first thing in the morning, I kind of wanted an extra bowl of rice hahaha. And here's one thing I really liked about Deulbabae!

Is there a self-serve banchan bar at Deulbabae?

At Deulbabae you can easily go grab more banchan from the self-serve bar whenever you run low. If you're someone who likes to load up on side dishes from the start, you can just go back for more whenever you need — no pressure, and it was great.

Every single banchan was pretty good too, so we ended up picking a bit of everything :)

Cheonggukjang and kodari come free with the set

Deulbabae's set meals come with complimentary cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), and kodari (dried pollack) was served on the house too! I mean, when even the free menu items are this generous, that's just great.

The kodari especially was surprisingly delicious! The seasoning had soaked in nicely so it went great with rice, and it had that salty, savory flavor that kept me reaching for more. Piling a bit of the flaked flesh onto rice — that's true rice-thief territory hahaha.

How the spicy pork and grilled mackerel tasted

Our main order, the Deulbabae bulbeombeok jeyuk, was delicious too.

The seasoning was tasty and went perfectly with rice.

It had that hearty, satisfying flavor that jeyuk (stir-fried pork) is known for, which made it a good fit for breakfast too.

The grilled mackerel wasn't too dry either — it was moist, so we enjoyed it a lot. Grilled fish can sometimes end up a bit dry and disappointing, but the mackerel we had that day was moist enough to pair well with rice.

Above all, every single banchan was tasty, so I kept reaching for the side dishes as much as the main dishes. If you're deciding where to have breakfast at Forest Resom, I think a hearty Korean set meal at Deulbabae is a great option. Deulbabae Forest Resom Branch is spacious and clean, so it seems like a great spot to visit whenever you're craving a hearty meal while traveling in Jecheon. My family left the meal fully satisfied. Having a dessert corner was a nice bonus too.
