Family dinner with kids at Deojinji, Resom Baegun charcoal galbi

In short

Deojinji Sutbul Galbi, Resom Baegun Branch is a charcoal-grilled pork galbi restaurant near Bakdalje in Baegun-myeon, Jecheon. Visiting on a Friday evening with two kids, the writer ordered the mild charcoal pork galbi set for two plus water naengmyeon (cold noodles), and refilled the self-bar salad. With baby dishware, a baby chair, and a huge parking lot, it was practically ready-made for a family outing, though the crowds meant a reservation was essential.

It was my mom's birthday, so after work on Friday I headed to Jecheon. I hadn't eaten properly after work before setting off, and then traffic got bad on the way there... so as we were getting close to Bakdalje, we stopped for dinner at Deojinji, known as a Resom Forest go-to restaurant in Jecheon, before heading to my parents' place!

I'd always been curious about the food at this huge restaurant every time we passed by, and this time I finally got to solve that mystery! It really was a restaurant that left nothing to be desired ^0^

Parking and the Resom Forest pickup

The parking lot is huge. No need to worry about parking at all.

This place also runs a round-trip pickup service to Resom Forest haha, so there was always a car waiting outside. I haven't been to Resom Forest myself yet, but I'm definitely planning to take my parents there someday~ Maybe that's why the restaurant was packed with people coming in for dinner.

Right at the entrance there was also a snack corner running as a post-meal event~

To the left of the entrance there were seats set up so you could use it as a café too, but haha we were hungry so we went straight in to eat.

We ordered the charcoal pork galbi set for two plus one naengmyeon (cold noodles)~ Since we had the kids with us, they set us up with baby dishware. Such a thoughtful touch ^^

Checking out the self-bar

What caught my eye was the self-bar I'd already seen in other reviews! I was hungry so I went to check it out first haha. Scoping it out before the table setting even arrived ^^

Maybe because it's known as a Resom Forest area go-to spot, there were quite a few foreign families who looked like tourists too~ Baby chairs were ready as well!

Grilling galbi, private rooms, and a wine fridge

Since Deojinji specializes in charcoal-grilled galbi, you could watch the staff nonstop-grilling galbi inside in real time.

There are also separate private rooms available for a more private meal. Really great for large family visits or family gatherings too!

There was also a wine fridge. That was my first time seeing one there, so it felt novel~ With kids in tow, though, it's still hard for both of us as a couple to have a drink together while eating haha.

Side dishes and mild charcoal pork galbi

Finally! The side dishes get set up. There were so many people that we waited a bit longer~ My husband loves seasoned crab and soy crab, so he happily picked away at them.

A little while later, the main event, the charcoal pork galbi, arrives on a hot stone plate. So generous.

Cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) comes along with it too, and it's rich and delicious. It's good enough to eat on its own as a single dish!

The charcoal pork galbi came in a spicy version too, but for the kids' sake we went with mild! Wow, the aroma was amazing and the seasoning wasn't too strong, which I really liked~ The kids ate it up really well too.

The cheonggukjang was great, and the crunchy water kimchi tasted like it was made with real care too.

My son has really gotten into the taste of meat and has been eating meat and rice noticeably well ^^ He's going to grow tall, it seems~ If he takes after mom and dad's tastes, he's definitely going to be a meat lover... Deojinji is also well known as an Instagram-famous spot, and it lived up to the hype, so I'd recommend it as a place to check out while traveling around Jecheon!

The water naengmyeon was a letdown

We also ordered water naengmyeon (cold noodles) for dessert~ It came out undercooked, so we asked them to remake it, and they did, but hmm... it came without a single bit of the icy slush, which threw me off ㅜ_ㅜ haha. The portion had also shrunk quite a bit, and I was left wondering what happened.

I wrapped up the onions from the stone plate with the meat and it was so sweetly delicious ^^ Meat really does belong in a lettuce wrap!

The salad was so good I went back for a refill~ Lots of other people were refilling salad at the self-bar too haha. It was also great dipping the pork galbi in the tangy sauce. Deojinji, a charcoal galbi specialist that won over the whole family's tastes!

Even mouthwash in the restroom, nice touch

There was even mouthwash set up in the restroom like this haha. I really felt like the owner has great attention to detail.

It was such a delicious meal, and since there are so many people that a wait is likely, I'd say booking ahead before visiting is a must ^^
