Mountain-view lunch set with spicy pork bulgogi in Jecheon: Deulbabae

In short

Deulbabae is a Korean set-meal restaurant on the 3rd floor of the Forest Club at Forest Resom in Jecheon, Chungbuk. Visiting for lunch on an anniversary trip, the writer ordered the Healthy Table A with spicy seasoned pork bulgogi, and loved the dried croaker, whole grilled fish, cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), and unlimited self-bar side dish refills. Dinner brings long waits, so lunch is the way to go.

Looking for a domestic trip where I could really heal for an anniversary, I found Forest Resom! It wasn't too far away, and it seemed like the perfect spot to quietly recharge in nature, so I booked it in a hurry and went haha.

I'll upload my honest review of the Forest Resom Jecheon accommodations separately soon. So much was satisfying, but one of the highlights was the Forest Resom restaurant 'Deulbabae.' It's a place I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for a Korean set-meal restaurant in Jecheon!

Leaving the city to quietly heal in nature was so nice at Forest Resom! Since travel starts with food, the moment we arrived we headed straight to Deulbabae, the Jecheon Korean restaurant I'd already scoped out haha.

Lunch vs. dinner waits — when should you go?

At lunchtime, maybe because it was before check-in hours, there weren't many people, so we got in right away without waiting,

A long waiting line outside Deulbabae during dinner hours

but in the evening there was a long wait and the place was absolutely packed! If you're planning to visit Deulbabae at Forest Resom in Jecheon, I'd definitely recommend going during lunch.

Spacious interior, a mountain-view restaurant

The spacious main hall at Deulbabae with generous table spacing
The upscale interior decor of Deulbabae

Deulbabae in Jecheon has a really spacious interior with generously sized tables, which looked great for family visits — and indeed, even large families seemed to be eating comfortably!

Inner seating at Deulbabae large enough for big families

Heading further inside, you can enjoy a mountain view through the wide windows while you eat, so I'd recommend it as a Jecheon spot with a view haha.

Since the view is so good, the tables right by the window are popular, so it seems you'd need to go for an early lunch to snag one without waiting.

The popular table right next to the window

Still, even a table a little further inside gave us a lovely enough view to enjoy our meal, so we were happy!

Private room seating for a secluded meal at Deulbabae

There are private rooms too

Deulbabae also has private rooms for a quiet, secluded meal, so if you're with family or a group and want to focus on conversation, booking a room could be a great option!

The interior is quite upscale too, so I'd recommend it for a visit with parents haha.

Menu recommendations at Deulbabae, Forest Resom Jecheon

Deulbabae's menu, focused on Korean set meals

There were so many delicious-looking dishes at Deulbabae. Since the menu is mostly Korean set meals, it seemed like no matter what you order, the table comes packed full of side dishes!

The Healthy Table A set with a full spread of side dishes

Healthy Table A, highly recommend the spicy pork bulgogi

We ordered the Healthy Table A and chose the seasoned (spicy) version for the pork bulgogi — highly, highly recommend it....!!!!! The sauce was so delicious, every single bite made me genuinely happy!!!

Spicy seasoned pork bulgogi loaded with vegetables
A plate of spicy pork bulgogi eaten with rice

It wasn't too spicy, so kids could enjoy it in small bites with rice, and it was loaded with vegetables so it never felt heavy!

Whole grilled fish served alongside the dried croaker

Dried croaker and a whole fish too — a generous set

Because it's a set, besides the dried croaker (boribuljogi), a whole other fish came out too, so the portion was really generous,

Deulbabae's grilled fish with the meat picked apart

and it tasted really great too haha.

Cheonggukjang served in a stone pot at Deulbabae

Cheonggukjang and the side dish self-bar

I already knew from reviews before coming to this Jecheon Korean restaurant that the cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) here was really good, and just the smell made my mouth water, seriously ㅠㅠ

Appetizers and side dishes served alongside the cheonggukjang

The appetizers and other side dishes were all delicious too, so it was a truly satisfying meal at this Forest Resom restaurant!

A plate of refilled side dishes from the self-bar

You can refill side dishes as much as you want at the self-bar, so I went back for more of the ones that suited my taste best — they were that good haha.

Bottled green tea water served with the dried croaker

The green tea water to drink with the dried croaker came in a bottled water form too, which I appreciated for the cleanliness,

Hot-pot rice and scorched rice tea served to finish the meal

and finishing with the hot-pot rice and scorched rice tea (sungnyung).. everything was so delicious! With the mountain view in Jecheon too, it's a place I'd definitely recommend!~~

Next time we visit Forest Resom, I'll have to stop by again and order the pork bulgogi for sure haha.
